Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 48s
So the buyout is $32.67 million in total on Lecavalier, $8 M full in bonus and $24.67 million in salary paid over 14 years

And I think the Flames should sign him to a short-term deal. He's getting up there in age, but 32 points in 39 games last year makes me think he's still got it. Plus, he's a center. A big center. He could provide some leadership on what's going to be a very young team likely without Cammalleri and Tanguay.
I wouldn't mind him being a Flame come September.

Feaster signs Lecavalier, trades Cammy for Richards, signs Ference. Drafts a dman 6th - Nurse because d take longer to develope, bam, playoff contender. If it fails, pick a franchise C in either of the next 2 drafts to replace Lecavalier and Richards.
Not my hope. Merely trying to thinking like Feaster.

Lots of different possible scenarios:
-Calgary (Feaster connection)
-Vancouver (Tortorella connection)
-Montreal
-NY Rangers

Lecavalier to be bought out in Tampa, sparking stunningly premature but interesting talk he will reunite with Feaster in Calgary.

Vancouver seems like the best fit to me.

i would throw toronto in the mix also. They need a top center as bad as anyone (though their #2 spot is nicely held by kadri/grabovski).

I agree with this theory.
If you are suddenly coming into a big chunk of change like this money doesn't become your reason for signing, do you think Feaster could get him to sign a cheap deal??

I think he signs a one year deal with a team he is familiar/comfortable with, and then heads back to Tampa to finish out his career.

I'd bet a fairly large sum of money that Feaster at least makes him an offer, and I would also bet a slightly less, but still considerable sum of money that he does indeed centre our top line next year.
So long as the deal is short and $$ reasonable I would have no issue with it, always liked Vinny.

I'm sure Feaster will be on the phone. I'm on board with Vinny helping the team transition. He's not the player he used to be but he's still a quality player. He would be perfect centering a smaller guy like Sven. This way if a guy like Monahan is drafted he's not thrust immediately into the top line. However I don't see him coming at a discount as the Flames are likely going to have to outbid teams like Montreal. That said the Flames shouldn't have any problems doing that.

If he's willing to sign for cheap, I think it's more likely he ends up on a contending team.
I think MTL, STL and ANA are 3 teams that could really use him...even CHI, actually.

I wouldn't mind Vinny coming here...for the right price (short term). As Pierre says, he would provide leadership for a young team and, more specifically, if the Flames do grab a centre with their first pick, he would be good learn from.
Also, he could be dealt for assets down the road.

I would be shocked if he signed with Calgary. I would bet he wants to go to a team that isn't in a full blown beginning of a rebuild...
