I'm in SW Sifton/Elbow area and have some teenagers unexpectedly out of school. While I'm technically working today I'd like spend a few hours helping out. Anyone know any specific needs? Or have people had success just showing up in a neighbourhood?

^^ from what I have heard/seen just so for a walk and bring your baggy of tools/gloves and such. Once you get into an area that needs help you will be put to work very quickly.

My brother got married on the weekend and they just gave me way more leftover chopped veggies and salads than I'll be able to eat myself. If someone here affected by the flood can use some anywhere in Calgary just PM me and I can bring it tonight. Let me know your address and what time frame someone will be home. Even if the flood isn't straining you financially to need it badly it's still a very rough time and you're more than deserving of a small gift.
I don't have gloves, boots, or tools yet but if I'm done dropping off the food I'll be in old clothes and willing to pitch in a helping hand while I'm there.

Was out in Elbow Park today, and just want to say im glad I call Calgary home. Spent 8 hours gutting the basement of a family there and the amount of people donating food or stopping to lend a helping hand was amazing.
Hope I get to meet some you guys out there this week.

I just got a call from my supervisor, and I don't need to go to work until next Tuesday. I'm starting to feel useless, so if anyone needs a hand for Wednesday or the rest of the week give me a PM and I'll be there.

everyone:
people are evolving from requiring pumping (equipment intensive) to clean up (people intensive) so this is the peak of when people need help. Many people have lots of help from friends but there are several where they are new to the city and/or the only people they know are work people who are now working. They are purely dependent on strangers walking up and asking to help.
It may take 10 houses saying they are good til you get to someone who needs you, but someone will. You are even more useful if you have your own stuff like shovel, and/or broom and/or krobar and/or boxcutter knife (big kind) and/or truck to haul and/or stuff to pull away drywall.
Everyone helping is very appreciated.
This is at a time when people will start to go back to work, so if you are available for people tomorrow it may be more valuable, as I'd guess there will be slightly less people out there willing to help with work picking back up.
EDIT I know one address that will likely need 10 people tmr, PM me if your looking for a house.

Just got back from helping out at the McKenzie Towne hall. Not too many people showed up but the ones that did donated a lot of stuff. One couple drove in from Red Deer and brought 24 flats of water, 20 or so buckets, 7 shovels and a big bin filled with gloves and dusk masks.
This adorable little girl around 5 years old came in and dropped off a bunch of stuff for the Humane Society. She spent all of her money on the donations she brought in
Just some amazing people in this city and province.

Hmm, that's a new delay in cleanup. Does Octo just want to burn the house to the ground now?

Yeah, when the bees were discovered and like 3 people piped up and said they were allergic, it kind of killed the momentum and the clock struck beer o'clock.
Octothorp used Raid on the infestation. Got almost all his drywall out and made some good headway on the insulation.
