Posting for a friend who is looking for help at 224 40th Ave SW. The whole street is a mess so could be lots of work with the neighbors on the street as well.
PM me if you want more details.

Wheel Barrows, shovels, gloves always seem to be in short supply when you need them.
I'd suggest buying bags of dishwashing gloves from grocery stores and having a few boxes around. They are durable enough to last and cheap enough to toss when they're worn out.

Perfect, I'm heading down there right now anyways for a friend on 5th, so let him know another hand is on its way with wheelbarrow, shovels, hammers and cleaning supplies.

-generators, pumps, shop vacs, extension cords and hoses were all put to use
-basic tools like screwdrivers, wrenches and hammers are good to have
-beer and food is always appreciated
-put on bug spray if you think you'll be outside

And as someone who got a little toasty yesterday, if it's sunny wear sunscreen.

Guys, I just wanted to say how proud I am of all of you. I wish I could do more than the 3 or 4 hours I put in Sunday, but as you can imagine there is a gazillion people looking at cars right now in anticipation of write offs, and we are swamped off our feet trying to help everyone here.
Keep it up, you guys are unreal. I will be doing my best over the next few days to pitch in where I can. We weren't expecting this volume of business so soon. The fact so many people are off work right now, is probably why we are so busy as well.

Great news! Looks like I'm going to have to stay at work until the evening to cover for employees who aren't going to be able to make it in.

Just a heads up for anyone looking to help and that is on a diet... I've never eaten so well in my life lol I lost count of the amount of people just stopping by seeing people who are working and giving food they bought just to give away. It's unreal.
I swear some guy had 100+ Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers.

There will be a hot chilli dinner and information meeting this evening at HSCA for volunteers and community members affected by the flooding. We will reps from different city departments, disaster services, the army, and hopefully CEMA. We invite everyone to come and join us. IF you would like to help out at the dinner, we could use extra coffee, creamer, and disposable plates/utensils/bowls/cups. Thank you!!

Ya that was the best part I found today, seemed like anyone who couldn't do heavy lifting were just non stop making sandwiches and distributing them through the streets, bringing water bottles etc. was just awesome to see so many people helping out.

I can't believe that I forgot that I have one of these as well. If anyone wants to use it indefinitely, PM me. This offer is open to community volunteers, not to businesses or anyone looking to make money with it.

Is anyone organizing food for people helping out? It takes a long supply line to feed an army...With electricity/water interruptions for some of these areas, maybe some of the biggest help could be in the form of long-hour sustaining food?
Lasagna drive? Rubens for Rebuilders? Donairs For Demo? Paninis for Pumpers?
Man cannot survive on Coffee and Timbits alone.
Instead of ######bag Andy Greshner, perhaps the CP masses should direct a PR campaign for "Libation Donation Stations" to be set up in various districts by the regions brewers/distributors?
Could go a long way towards re-establishing patronage...
