Well my power just got turned on. I'm tired, as worked at Coop during this and never saw a fruit tray at this price. This may be a special order large tray! Our trays are under10$. Pkgs of water, 24, were 3.48. We sold a lot. Friday we worked so hard to help everyone while worrying about our own homes and families. We set up donation to Red Cross and I know I personally comforted and worried along side all my neighbours.

Home Depot apologizes for pricey water goof during Calgary flood

Sparked by angry social media users accusing Home Depot of price gouging during Calgary’s flooding disaster, the hardware giant has apologized for what it called a mistake.

A photograph circulating on social media of a receipt from the 1818 16 Ave. N.W. Home Depot and dated June 21 shows the store charged $42 for 24 bottles of Dasani water.

The photograph prompted outrage on social media by people accusing Home Depot of price gouging.

But on Saturday Home Depot issued a statement on Facebook saying it was a mistake.

“Calgary, we apologize for the mistake made at one of our stores regarding the price of water,” the statement said.

“There was an internal error which affected a small number of customers.

“As soon as we were notified we took immediate action, resolved the issue and reached out directly to the customers affected asking them to contact us so we can make it right.”

I believe them, can't see Home Depot pulling that sort of thing and expecting to get away with it.

Hmm, if people were buying those bottles singly and not in a case, that's actually not a bad deal. What does that break down to - about $1.75 bottle? That's cheaper than the convenience stores or at least on par.

If you buy Jones Soda from safeway or co op they charge you 2 bucks a bottle x 12, that's standard rate. Sometimes stores don't just sell things at a discounted "case rate".

This shouldn't be the case for Jones soda. Then again I don't shop at Safeway or Co-op as I find their prices ridiculously overpriced compared to Superstore, but I do know Superstore sells Jones by the case which is $12.99, not sure they sell them by the bottle. I'm arguing over semantics, but just wanted to point that out for those buying Jones soda (go to Superstore).

Anyways, if people stopped to think before posting stuff on social media, they would realize that these large chain stores are not going to price gouge as it does not make sense from a long termed perspective.

I basically price gouge myself every time I used self checkout. I wind up scanning the wrong code and charge myself for 24 single bottles at 1.75 each versus the bulk price. Then the 14 year old kid has to sing in and fix everything for me.

Anyway, I doubt a large chain store would increase the price on a single item due to high demand. As everyone has pointed out, the internet is not only incredibly fast in it's condemnation, it can also be incredibly unfair.

I always thought the Home Depots of the world had some type of mother brain that managed and updated prices in real time? It is possible the system raised the price due to either limited supply or the bulk version was sold out.
