A350-900 seems a lot bigger than I was expecting, I know it's 10 feet longer than a 777-200 and a longer wingspan too, but it seems to occupy more space in the sky than its dimensions indicate.
"Hi folks, uhhhh this is your uhhh Captain speaking. Arrival conditions in Denver today uhhh some scattered cloud and thunderstorms in the area, and uhhhh if you look off to your right you'll see a tornado."

Flooding problems have caused the cancellation of the Nanaimo trade mission to Calgary on the inaugural WestJet Encore flight between Nanaimo and the Alberta city on Monday.
Dozens of people from Nanaimo's financial and political communities were scheduled to take off on Monday morning for a three-day trip to Calgary, the first of the daily trips between the two cities after Westjet's launch of the new service. Jenn Houtby-Ferguson, a spokeswoman from the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation, said that given the severity of the situation and with many sections of Calgary currently under water, including several blocks in the downtown core, the NEDC has made the "difficult decision" to postpone the trade mission to the fall.
However, Houtby-Ferguson said the inaugural flight will proceed as scheduled to support the launch of service between Calgary and Nanaimo on Monday morning and the scheduled activities to celebrate the new service will proceed at the Nanaimo airport at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Houtby-Ferguson said NEDC officials have been in touch with WestJet and "as it stands, the airport is clear" at this time so the flight will take off from Nanaimo as scheduled and she and Chelsea Barr will still head to Calgary on the flight to support the launch of new service.
"After consulting our partners in Calgary, all of whom are in crisis management mode, all other meetings in the downtown core, including the street team activities, have been postponed to the fall," she said. "Dates and details (of the new schedule in the fall) will follow in the coming weeks."
Nanaimo airport president Mike Hooper said his team, in conjunction with WestJet, have been working hard in preparation for the new service for months.
Zero time for either of them to react. Terrible accident.

We almost had another crash at the Quad City Airs Show on Sunday. What I saw was debris come off of John Klatt's MXS aerobatic plane, followed by an incredibly fast landing. The local media is reporting that something came apart in the engine and possibly punctured some sort of oil line, causing oil to spray all over the canopy. The pilot then had to jettison the canopy and make an emergency landing.
He's ok except for some cuts and bruises, but it was a definitely a scary moment after the deadly crash Saturday in Ohio, and the QC Air Show's deadly crash last year. Here's the only YouTube video of it so far, although the guy misses the landing. I wish I'd been videoing that particular pass, because I was farther down the runway. I don't know how he got it stopped in time, but he didn't quite go off the end of the runway. Its a good thing, as Interstate 80 is like 100 yards beyond it.
And a picture once the firetruck, ambulance, courtesy cars, golf cars, and ATVs had arrived...

John is a top notch stick (flies an F-16 in his spare time) and recently moved into the MX having flown a beautiful Staudacher S300 for years. The engine out landing was executed near perfectly.
