Apparently 2005 was our "100-year-flood", and if this is going to top it, we're in for a very serious situation here. I'm not trying to sound alarmist or anything, but I just can't shake the feeling that this is not going to be pretty. At all.
Stay safe everyone, and I'll join the numerous others here by offering any assistance that I can - just ask for it.

It's like asking the question why do people live in Earthquake zone or the coastal hurricane regions. People just do.

CTV Lethbridge just posted the Oldman crest info on their fb page, and someone in this thread had said Elbow might reach 1200 m3/s.

Just called my tenant in my condo in Erlton, they haven't been evacuated but told him that he's in the flood area so he might want to get his car out of the underground parkade.

The Oldman river is expected to reach 3000 cubic meters per second. In 1995 it reached 4500. Either way, that's crazy!

Water, what a destructive force. Can't live with it, can't live without it.

Water is probably the most hazardous chemical in the world. It should be banned. |

They're saying to expect '95 levels of flooding here. I was 4 years old so I know nothing of it.

I was 20 at the time. I remember it quite well. I biked down to the University and checked out the river. I didn't get too far down the coulee, but a young neighbour kid and his friend did, and one of them lost their bike in the river as they got too close. I remember it being dry, and biking along the top edges of the coulees, but yet there was all that water running through the river bottom. There isn't a lot of images from then, because it was 1995 and digital cameras were not all that common, but check out this site for a small handful of images: http://www.civil.ualberta.ca/water/M...od/LBRIDGE.HTM |

So ain't nobody getting out of or into Alberta south (and I guess west) of Red Deer-ish then?
The 2005 flood - is that the one a teenage girl was lost in when the foot bridge she was on, was swept away?
