I was thinking of doing the same after work, I live just up the hill. I know I'd want help if I was down there.

I find it interesting that Highwood floods at 250 ml/s and was sitting at 220 ml/s last night around 10 PM but the flood warning wasn't issued until 8:45 AM this morning...

Also the Elbow River at Bragg is over 500 m3/s now, this will be worse than 2005.

I hope anyone working for Alberta Env. didn't just buy a new truck or house or anything.. unemployment doesn't pay very well.

On AM 770, they were saying that the 2005 high river flood was 800m3/s, they are saying that it might reach 1200m3/s today.

Nope, the Bow was generally fine. The banks have been built up over the years due to catastrophic flooding early in Calgary's history. Further downstream where the banks haven't been reconstructed, there was flooding. Places like Douglasdale, Fish Creek Park and McKenzie Meadows golf course.

If it ends up anything like 2005, those banks down south (McKenzie/Douglasdale) are in for some fun. There's been more erosion there just from the recent "medium/high" water levels.

Holy crap, I can't believe those Canmore pictures. Lived there for 17 years (4 in Cougar Creek area) and still know people in the area.
 Hope everyone is ok there.

I wasn't in Calgary at the time, how far inland did the floods get in 2005? Or was it the same basic neighborhoods affected as they are talking about?
