Why have you not bought this yet? It's a fantastic album. I might be slightly biased as Deck has been my favourite Wu member for a long time. I'm not usually a big Esoteric fan but he definitely stepped up.

I'll keep banging the Jon Connor drum, no doubt he'll blow up soon.

He's going to have to branch out from the joke tracks if he ever wants to be taken seriously, but I'm really liking some of Lil Dicky's stuff.

Kanye's skills as an MC have just died down significantly. The guy is one of the greatest hip hop producers and artists ever though.

That was more punk performance art than hip-hop. Impressive though.

I was just listening to his first three albums the other day and couldn't help but ask myself, "what the F happened?" So many of his songs are great. Graduation, IMO, will go down in history as a Hip Hop classic. The production on that album is flawless.

College Dropout was groundbreaking in that it sort of reinvented the practice of not hiding samples. Late Registration just continued what College Dropout started.

...then 808s & Heartbreaks happened followed by the death of his mother and it was downhill from there for Kanye. He was always an ignorant prick, but it was overlooked because of his producing talent.

I am an unabashed Kanye supporter, and primarily listening to hip hop for nearly 25 years now. IMO Kanye is still the best innovator in hip hop period. Yes there are some underground guys doing some cool stuff, but at a production and performance level no one comes close. You should look up his movie he did in Cannes, many critics went in hating, but came out applauding his work.

Dark twisted is an epic album, one of the best realeased that year across all music genres. His SNL appearance was mind blowing, with Power being Probably the best piece of performance art SNL has ever seen.

You can't put Kanye in the MC, or even hip hop artist category anymore. That is too narrow. The man is a walking innovator of art via hip hop.

That brings us to the latest SNL appearance. He's now brought punk art to hip hop in a way very few have. Sure others like Lupe have tried, but That Kanye performance was beyond the pale of anything I have seen before. To me he is like the Apple of hip hop. He is an artist who just happens to produce hip hop, and does it in a way that can impact the mainstream more than anyone else.

Sure I hate his choice in women, and his sound bites, but that can go in another thread. As an artist very few even come close from a creativity and production level.

Oh and on the side, check out Cruel Summer. For a side part time production from Kanye, it just about beats a lot of stuff put out by the full time guys.

Listening to a lot of Eminem's older music i can honestly say that 1999-2002 Slim Shady could be considered the greatest rapper of all time. The lyricism, flow, passion, everything. Then came Encore and well....Yeah...The guy isn't trash but he just never got back to the level of skill he had from Infinite up to The Eminem Show. He's still a legend. The flow on this song is incredible:

That timeframe was definitely his pinnacle. It was nice to see him bounce back recently with his newer material. But The Eminem Show and then especially Encore were pretty subpar.

I still have to listen to Bad meets Evil.

Cool picture of DJ Premier and Guru's son, KC. Damn, if he was bald, he'd be the reincarnation of his dad.
