The article I posted yesterday about the mayor's office requesting to have records destroyed was refuted by the city IT department.
http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/05...rds-destroyed/
The other news story that may or may not be linked to the Ford saga is that RCMP made an arrest in Fort McMurray in the death of Anthony Smith, who's the young man shown in the photo with Ford that Gawker released.

I understand and totally respect standing up for "innocent until proven guilty." That is a trait everyone needs to exercise more.
But this has stunk like a week old carcass rotting in the sun right since the get-go.

"Alta" is the proper abbreviation according to the Canadian Press Stylebook. No, I have no idea why that is, but that's why you'll see it that way in any Canadian media publication.

An abbreviation has not yet been established for Nunavut, so it should be written out in all references

Well, I don't know about government, but he sure is reducing the size of his office!

If I remember right, you were the most ardent anti-Nenshi person on this board. If he's won you over, I'm thinking he'll be Calgary's mayor for as long as he wants the job

If you want, you can become one of those people who complain about taxes going up but don't understand that the reason they're going up is that we have huge instrastructure and currency debts as a result of the policies that Nenshi wants to change.

IMO, it's (past) time to suspend Ford (unfortunately, with pay) until the rcmp or some other executive body clears him (there really is no precedent for this situation, so i'm guessing it would be the RCMP). I can't see how any alderman or Torontonian could accept any policy or hiring decision coming from the mayor's office until he's cleared. A government can only be in place if they have legitimacy, and ford's is in serious question.

Should crack smoking cause a loss in his credibility? He hasnt really changed is policies or attitude since he was elected, if the video is acuurate its likely he was smoking crack before he was elected. So if you elected a crack smoking politican i think you are stuck with him unless he is criminaly charged.

He has lost his credibility. The deputy mayor is calling him out, 5 people have left his office (another person left today, but they're contract expired). Crack is a deal breaker, and it came to light (hehe) after he was elected. It'd be like voting a prom queen, and then finding out it was a dude even though he represented himself as a she. And like I said, legitimacy is the cornerstone of governed, and he seems to have lost his. keep in mind, he's been having perception issues even before the crack allegations.
