You're right... Iginla was always somewhat of a hard bargainer, and was well paid for his services. In addition, the Flames always went out of their way to find someone to play with him during his whole career. Looking back, probably the best player, that would have complimented him, was Savard...and we went and gave him away for a 2nd round draft pick. In summary, I don't think the Flames owe Iginla anything, and vice versa.

No you're not the only one. You're one of many posters who say this once per page in every Pittsburgh, Boston or iginla related thread on CP. We get it.

I remember something about his going rate would have been $10mill last contract, I'd call that a hometown discount. I do not agree that the Flames organization went out of their way to find him top people to play with though. If they really did that they wouldn't have failed the way they did, would they? Are they really that inept, over all that time? Anyway, it's over, lets see what the future brings.

Actually, now that I think about it,this is a bit unrealistic. I say instead Iginla scores on his own net in game 7 OT and takes off his jersey to reveal a Bruins jersey and says he has always preferred Boston over Pittsburgh.

That's what I recall too. Iginla was a truly top player in the league back then and could have had more money than he got from the Flames.
The very idea of the organization going out of it's way to find top players for Iginla to play with is a little silly. What way was the organization trying to go that finding good players for the team was "out of it's way". The organization was doing exactly what served it's own purpose in trying to get good players to play with Iginla. They just couldn't do it well enough to get a cup.
But to get back on topic, I hope to see Iggy crush the Bruins in this series. People saying that goaltending is going to be the difference probably missed the last Pens series where a better goalie than Rask was blown out by the Pens. If the Bruins are going to have a chance it's going to come through their checking game, not from their goalie.

Well I see at least once a page posts that want to see Iginla win. I get that as I also hope to see Iggy get a ring but I'm fine with fans that have moved on. There is no right or wrong here and just fan opinion.

Sure there is. If the Pens win, we'll pick 29th or 30th. If they lose we'll pick 27th or 28th.
I'll be cheering for Iggy to do well but it's best for us if the Penguins lose.

I'm not sure there's a significant difference between any of those picks.

It's never justified and it's a problem with some longtime posters here that make this place unfriendly at times.

I'm friendly to awesome posters, and that's all that matters. Although it is nice to start getting the recognition I deserve as a "longtime poster", and more importantly, a "problem". Thank you, ErickEstrada.

All that matters is making this place welcome for all posters. What matters to you means nothing if you are hostile to posters that you don't consider 'awesome' because your taste is an acquired one.
