A USAF C-5 Galaxy diverted to us yesterday, apparently an engine overspeed followed by a fuel leak in the cargo hold:

Apparently still here, could be another day before it leaves. If I get the heads up on departure I'll post it here.

It's parked at the cargo apron just south of the terminal building.
I think the last time we had a C-5 here was for the G8 summit, we got a couple in if memory serves.

Any idea what the flightpath of that plane was? I thought I saw a plane that size flying overhead when I was in Saskatoon this weekend.

Would love to take my son to get a closer look. Best viewing would be over by the WestJet campus?

Yeah - come down by the campus and towards the Air Canada Cargo area. You'll probably have the view of the rear of the aircraft.

Yup, just take a turn north and go up to where some of the cargo terminal buildings are, you may be able to see it from there.

Sorry team but I just got back from an off site meeting and heard the C-5 depart to the south, camera gear sitting in my car. Argh! I ran to the back of the warehouse to see it lumbering into the sky.

I saw it sitting there yesterday afternoon. Massive bird. Looked awfully funny sitting over there next to some smaller planes.

Cowls on both engines come loose? Some maintenance engineer is going to have some explaining to do.

Great shot from airliners.net showing the A319 landing with smoke still coming off the right engine:

That'd be a little scary, sitting on that side, looking out the window.
