i like the call as it is. Putting a "intentional" vs "non-intentional" wording in the ruling of the call makes it too subjective.

What i wouldn't be opposed to is having a video review (similar to goals) for any such delay of game penalty. Should only take an additional 30s to validate if the puck deflected or not.

I fear that puting discretion back the refs hands would lead to this call never being made, especially in crucial moments.

Before long, it would be happening, 5-10 times a game again.

I can't remember how frustrated I used to get seeing the puck out of play 3 times in a row in the final minute as a defensive strategy. Now, if the puck goes out the defensive player is nervous that there will be a call.

I like the rule exactly the way it is. Win or lose.
Exactly. Playing the puck out of the playing surface should never ever be a viable defensive play. The penalty is fine. Don't want one? Control your clearing attempt. Its cut and dry.

I'm not huge on it deciding games, but I guess I would be ok with it if they didn't including hitting the puck out of midair over the glass as a penalty.

It's just so unpredictable what the puck will do in that case that its stupid to penalize someone for it.

Love Daryl Sutter, miss him a lot. Pulling hard for the Kings, I really like that team. Having Regehr on there doesn't hurt my cheering either.

If we get a Kings\Hawks and Pens\Bruins set of conference finals followed by a Pens\Kings cup final, I will be a happy but conflicted camper.

Came to post this exactly.

Shooting the puck over the boards - both intentionally and unintentionally - is EXACTLY the same as icing it. Sometimes it is done to relieve pressure, but usually it is just a bad shot/pass.

And it should be treated the same way as an icing - faceoff in your end, no line change.

The vast majority of 5 on 3s are a result of this stupid rule. And pretty much every time it is unintentional. Last night the rule cost SJ a playoff game

Edit: I also think they should not allow timeouts after an icing / over the glass delay.

I wish there were videos available of all the people who were critical of the Sutter hiring back in 2011. I'd love to see all those clowns eat their words, as the majority the analysts at the time said it was a poor hiring.

Darryl Sutter simply doesn't get the credit he deserves in the media. In his last three seasons as NHL head coach he's taken his team to the Stanley Cup finals twice, winning once. If he does it this season that would be three times in his last four seasons as head coach in the Stanley Cup finals. When is the last time that has happened? Probably won't hear a lot about that in the media but the guy is simply one of the best coaches in the NHL. Part of me wonders what would have happened if he just went at least one more year as head coach of the Flames. Anyway here's hoping for a Kings vs Penguins final to have Iginla face his old coach for the cup. That would be pretty epic.

These are great games. Nice goal there by Toffoli (sp?).
This and the Pens series are both awesome.

As disappointing as their endings with the Flames were, I really like that Iggy, Sutter and Regher have me cheering for two really good teams who look like they're both going deep in the playoffs.

NIce of Havlat to put in a few minutes in this series. See you next season for about a game and a half. If there was anyone in the NHL made for Stunt glass, it's Marty Havlat.
