Bieksa was on the anti-diving committee and has called out his team publicly before

so I don't think his comments are off base, if he's doing it with his own team he's within right to do it to Thornton (especially Thornton, he embellishes as much as any Canuck) and Couture

Quote:
“I know guys will do whatever it takes for a power play to win a game,” Bieksa said. “But sometimes they’re crossing that line of integrity. I think for the better of the game, for the good of the game we need people to stay on that line and not cross it, and not dive and exaggerate for calls.”

all the questions are about this and not the lack of scoring or goaltending

whether he meant it or not, great timing on his part

Decent point. Be curious to know if that was his design.

That's neat and all, but I have seen Bieksa dive. Classic Canucks fan deflecting the diving talk, Thornton is a diver but there is no way he embellishes as much as Kesler, Burrows, and LaPierre. He may be on the twins level as far as embellishing goes but can't come close to those 3 goofs.

Nice building, but I thought he lived in the Erickson for some reason.

The sad thing for Canucks fans is their coach made a deliberate attempt to get more calls favoured their way by calling out the face-off cheating by the Sharks after Game 1, and it worked with an obvious focus by the linesmen in Game 2 and Canucks getting a better face-off percentage... but Vancouver still lost.

Bieksa's probably hoping for a few calls to go their way in Game 4 with his diving comments, but the problem is, the refs will likely pay extra attention to that stuff... but for both teams, and Vancouver is by far the bigger culprit.

My perfect outcome for tonight would be the refs handing the Canucks 2 or 3 straight powerplays right off the bat, Canucks feel the pressure and fail to score, get frustrated, and one of the clowns (Bieksa, Kelser, Burrows, Lapierre) takes a stupid penalty, and the Sharks score on their first and only powerplay of the game, and win 1-0.

Or.. . .

The Sharks score early and often running up 8 goals and Loungo is pulled thus forever keeping the name 8oungo.

Schnieder goes in and gets pummeled allowing 5 goals on 6 shots, forever will he be known as 5chneider.

The Sedin's look at each other, shrug, grab hands and skate off of the ice in a perfectly synchronized fashion. As Kesler reaches the end of the handshake line (after snapping his head back everytime someone reaches out to shake hishand of course) a Shark/Octopus hybrid being ridden by Debbie Gibson rips him apart and eats him.

AV now seeing his team eliminated crashes to his knees and starts crying only to take a momentous right cross across the lips by Batman.

A canucks fan writes about why being a canucks fan stinks. Some refreshing honesty about the constant diving and the antics. One bad word in the article so NSFW possibly.

Love it. A loss tonight will pretty much be the final nail in the coffin of this iteration of the Canucks that CP hates so much too. There will be a lot of hometown "we saw this coming/bandwagon canucks fans were blind to the truth but the true fans knew/no one REALLY thought this team had any shot" written in the next few days, but I think this article sums it up pretty well.

Burish, McLellan and Couture on Bieksa's comments

Quote:
“If I was him, while he was up on his soap box and trying to save the integrity of the game and all that stuff, I’d swing by player No. 14 (Alex Burrows) and player No. 17 (Ryan Kesler) and have a little talk about diving and the integrity thing,” said the San Jose Sharks winger.

“Then they can work their way over to our room, but I’d start with their room.

“It’s silly to sit there and call out the refs and worry about what we’re doing. Please, keep worrying about us. We’re going to worry about what we can do better instead of having props and interviews and video evidence and all that stuff. Game 1, we were cheating on faceoffs, and now we’re embellishing.”
Quote:
“It really doesn’t matter what he has to say, I’m just focused on Game 4 tonight,” said Couture. “Everyone has their own opinion and I’ll just play the game and that’s it.

“If they’re talking about me, then I must be doing something right. You try to hit players who are playing a lot of minutes and they try to do the same to us.

“And it shouldn’t affect the officiating, and they’ve done a great job.”
Quote:
Sharks coach Todd McLellan wasn’t letting it go as a mere sideshow.

“They use that word ‘embellishment’ and we haven’t heard it for a while — it was in vogue a couple of springs ago,” said McLellan.

“We’ve been called cheaters after Game 1 and embellishing Canadians after Game 3. If the series goes any deeper, we may be accused of biting, eventually. I don’t take any offence, but if I was an official I would — because it’s about their integrity.”
