We know the top 3 are pretty much gonna be mac, jones, drouin. So I could realistically see Barkov falling just 2 spots from his projected 4th to land in our laps. I would be ecstatic if that big body C weve forever been looking for fell to us.

I wouldn't say "so many posters". In fact it's only recently I've seen this phenomena here.
I guess I should have tinted the text green.

That being said, I won't be surprised if Nichushkin goes in top 5. Barkov is of Russian decent but he is Finnish. Both players should be drafted in the top 5.

Looks like Nashville fans want Barkov but Poille is starring at Nuschkinin
Carolina fans want Monahan but their GM wants Nuschkinin

I know a lot of people seem to think Lindholm has has the higher offensive upside, but I just read a write up in The Hockey News which seems to contradict that.
One scout seems to think Lindhom will be a very good 2nd liner, but he will not be an 80 point guy. The other write up for Monohan categorizes him as an offensive centerman and a true number one guy.
Take it for what it is worth......just a couple of scouts opinions. I don't think this reflects the general consensus thus far.
I for one disagree, as I think Lindhom and Monohan both have point per game potential and I would be happy with either pick.

How do they know what their GM wants?

I see, do you happen to recall where you saw that? Nichushkin going to either one of them before our pick would be awesome for us imo.

Isn't that due diligence? If they weren't talking to him and getting a good feel for him they wouldn't be doing their job.

Well, if that's true and it isn't just routine "checking out" of the player, then that could bode very well for us at 6. If one of Carolina or Nashville does take Nichuskin it significantly increases the chance of us getting to have our pick of Monahan or Lindholm, but also it increases the chance of Barkov falling to us as well. If one of them is a lock to take Nichuskin, all we need is the other GM having a personal/team preference of any of Monahan, Lindholm or Nurse and Barkov, who'll be NHL ready next year, will be ours.

So what time does the draft start tomorrow?
Oh, you mean we still have a couple months to wait while we watch some other fans celebrate as their team wins the Cup?
That sucks.

I truly hope whoever we pick goes back to Junior or Europe or wherever they played last year (unless it was Mackinnon or Drouin who we won't be getting). No need to rush players in who aren't fully ready. I want this rebuild to be done properly and rushing our prospects in is not the right thing to do.

I agree 100% with this.
I know the Leafs get a lot of flack for being too patient with Nazim Kadri but it seems to have worked out well so far
Nothing wrong with debuting in the NHL when you're 19 or older

I picked Monahan.
I really think he could be like David Backes with more offensive ability.

Might be the first time in a while a 6th round pick will be expected to carry a franchise

Despite Barkov being born late in his draft year, I've heard that he's as NHL ready as MacKinnon or Drouin, and a lot having to do with his hockey sense and size.
If you'd be willing to promote Nate right away, then you should have no problem with Barkov either. Outside those 4 guys it's a different story, however.

Especially when we will be in the running for Reinhart or Ekblad next season. This 6th pick is just the beginning of adding potential core pieces to this team.
