Based on my limited analysis of youtube videos you guys are all wrong and we should draft Connor McDavid.

Because it is not fun to hope for Ryan O'Reilly.

Horvat is 2nd in faceoffs and 1st in shotblocker

Horvat is a big gritty centre (not a fighter though) if that's your desire. Offensive upside is the question there.

I'd be happy with either guy. Both play a strong two-way game with great offensive upside.
I think I would lean more to Monahan because of his size-advantage and leadership qualities. He has been team captain at every level. But I am not the scouts who get paid to watch these guys so I won't flip out either way

How would you guys feel if both were on the board when the Flames pick and we drafted Nichushkin instead?

For me I would not be that upset because I think his intentions are to play in the NHL in two years and this guy could very well end up being the best player in the draft. If it were not for the Russia factor and the factor he is going back to the KHL for two more years I have zero doubt this guy would be one of the top 2 picks in the draft.

Fine, I would guess they are know Nik is coming over and wouldn't get burned i.e. Tom Erixon

I'd hope that with any draft selection (including Erixon), you would be figuring that out in the pre-draft interviews.

Which means Drouin should project to be Pat Falloon. |

I'd be super fine with that. Arguably in competition with the top 4 for in potential, I see no reason to freak out. Might be a bit more of a gamble but worth it if he reaches a higher upside, And he's played some center so that totally counts.

I wouldn't want us to pick Nichushkin if Monahan or Lindholm are available. Take him with the Blues pick if he's still there (which he won't be)
If we want to swing for the fences, I say pick Petan. Although a different type of risk (size vs Russian), he's still a risk

I wouldn't mind us picking Nichushkin with our 2nd pick (wherever that may be) as it would mean the Flames met with him and had a good enough impression to take the risk. But I agree, you take Lindholm or Monahan, or Barkov if he miraculously falls.
I'm leaning towards Lindholm, but wouldn't be upset if they took Monahan.
