Default Herald story: kipper meets kipper kid

http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...683/story.html

A fun hockey story, but the gist is that this is the first time they have met one on one. They talked fishing.

Most interesting though is that Kipper gave him his stick from last game... Great gesture on Kipper's part.

I think the most interesting part is that Kiprusoff went to Minnesota with the team. Thought he'd ride out the season at home with the family, with 14 goalies being called up for a look see.

Can't believe he's 36 now. Feels like yesterday he was 26.

I am going to miss Mikka Kiprusoff.

I really hope they consider retiring #34.

I heard that the Kipper kid went straight from his retirement party to the game to meet with his idol

I heard Kippers retirement party was in Vegas and a bunch of Av's players crashed it.

Kipper gave kid fake ID and partied all night.

Kid needed a fake ID because it was an under-50s party.

Maybe Kipper invited him to warm the baboon blood for the stopping of the oval disc.

He should have done the Steel Dragon/Chris Cole thing

Kipper leaves the ice at the end of the second period, he spots Brendan Peters dressed up in all of his Kipper gear with the goalie mask and all of that stuff

Kipper - "Hey Kid what's your name"
Brendan Peters - "Brendan but my friends call me little Kipper, I love you man, I emulate all your saves I even painted on your beard with a magic marker"
Kipper - "So you want to take over or what?"
The kid squeels like a nerd getting a Jean Luc Picard action figure on Christmas day and sprints onto the ice highfiving Flames and Flame fans on the way to a crease. Kipper looks on with a small smile on his face and turns around to see Bob Hartley standing in the shadows"

Hartley - "So takin a night off are we"
Kipper - "I thought I'd take a piss"

Kipper gives Hartley a hug and walks towards the foggy stairs leading out of the SaddleDome, he walks down the stairs and vanishes into the night.

Hartley takes a hit off of his joint and gives a little finger wave.

Hartley - "Off you go"

The scene shows Brandon in slow motion fumbling the first shot into the net

Hartley - "Oh shi. . . "

And credits
