7 points between the young guys Cundari, Brodie, Backlund, Baertschi and Reinhart today.

Even in an absolute disaster of a season they currently sit ahead of Edmonton in the standings yet are still in a position to draft Monohan, Lindholm or Nichuskin. And still have a chance to win the lottery.

Wow! Mark Cundari is awesome! What a great 1st NHL game for him. If that game reflects his abilities, I expect to see him on the roster in October.

If the kids are going to keep producing as they have, resulting in Flames wins, I'll gladly take a top 10 pick instead of a top 5. It'll set them up good for next season. Flames got 3 first rounders to make up for missing out on the top 5 if they don't win the lottery.

What more needs to be said, this team is playing unreal right now considering the roster. Brodie is amazing and continues to improve. Baertchi riding a 5 game point streak and Cundair with his first goal and a 2 point game in his first NHL game. Fantastic!

If jumping the Oil in the standings is wrong, I don't want to be right.

I get the whole concept that elite talent comes from the top end of the draft... but I find it amusing that a lot of the same posters that were asking for a rebuild are now whining that the kids aren't rolling over and dying.

Sucks that we might lose out on a franchise player but how can you be mad at these kids for playing with pride?

The... posters... who seek failure really should engage in a little so-called "intellectual honesty" of their own. This team was never bad enough to finish at the bottom of the league. You got your hopes up for no reason when the team went on an ungodly road losing streak that nobody should have expected could continue indefinitely.

Anyway, I'll now leave the floor to those who ruin every thread with their whining about how we won't get Jones or MacKinnon.

Honestly if the Flames where that bad they would be losing all of these games. It bodes well for being competitive next year and the year after. I don't know what more management can do to get a high draft pick, than to field a team of 7-8 AHL players.

If anything it's exciting.

The answer is in the Abbotsford heat's locker room

But seriously though, great entertaining game and now the future looks promising which I think is better than if they mail it in at the end of the season

I find it laughable that we finally get a 3 game win streak it is at the most meaningless time of the year.

Good to see our young guys playing well, but this is getting pathetic (not the winning, our luck).

I heard he walked right into the Flames dressing room pre-game and changed the music playing on the stereo.
