No, you need to look at the difference in team quality in each league. Besides how can you make a statement like that. They're players from the OHL and WHL. The same leagues as the #1 prospect and the #6 prospect.

If youre ignorant enough to think you know more about the guy based on stats, than scouts who watch him play there's no need for me to take you seriously.

1) the khl is a lower scoring league then the NHL.
2) he is a 17/18 year old playing against 25-35 year olds
3) he is playing approx. 10 min a game
4) he is not getting significant pp time.
5) the league was littered with NHL players this year due to the lockout.

Playing against men is much harder to get points in then playing against boys. Look at the wjc if you would like to see him against his peer group.

I believe the feeling is that we need a #1 Centre we can build a team around. I don't believe that player will be available at 5 or 6. I believe that Nurse is the best choice at that position. Other than him Shinkaruk is a logical choice. We need a RW. We have opportunities to draft a Centre with our other two choices. I suggested Rychel and Klimchuk. I fail to see how that's ignorant thinking and unless you come up with a valid argument I'll not take you seriously either.

Malkin had 12 points his first season in the khl. 34 games.

Nichuskin can play all three forward positions, so he's versitile. Scouts continue to say he has elite level skills across the board outside of the fact he needs to work on his shot accuracy. No it's not. He has 4 assists.

Where do all these different stats come from? Nichushkin scored 4+2=6 in 18 games he played in KHL this season.

If we came away from this draft with 2-3 centers similar to any of the above, we'd be laughing for years, and it's not impossible, it's just up to the drafting and development staff of the Flames to find some "hits" and avoid the "misses".

A top pick would be great this year, but it's not the only way to draft top centers.

So basically all we need is to hope this draft is equal to the greatest first 2 rounds in NHL draft history, draft some 2nd line centers, draft some wingers or hope we get Kopitar and our center worries are gone!

I think everyone knows you can get talent outside of top picks but that list shows how badly we need a top 3 pick to get that stud center more than anything else.

Actually I am since day one. I subscribe to Centre Ice so I can watch all their games. It's hell being a Flames fan here in B.C. Grow up.

Buddy said we probably couldn't get a #1 center without a top pick.

I meant for my post to show that top centers aren't only available with top picks. They can be found all over the draft.

This draft isn't as deep as 2003, but I think the top ten (give or take a couple pics) is just as deep. It's top heavy. I am honestly not all that worried about not having a top 3, or top 5 pick.

I think for the most part they are found at the top of the draft (or in 2003) but there are a few that were taken outside the top.

I don't have a ton of confidence in the guys after the top 3 in being anything other than the usual hit and miss 4-10 type guys but I was keen on getting Mackinnon who seems so much better than any of the other centers that perhaps they will end up better than I expect.
