If you're the curious sort, as I was when I was 18, be a BA/busser at Cowboy's. You will see things after close (and before on occasion) that you thought only existed on the internet.

Work as a dealer in the Casino. There is a bit of training (few days maybe), but the pay is pretty decent and you can turn it into a part time gig later on.

My sister did it for a summer, ended up working at Silver Dollar on Friday/Saturday to put herself through a year of school. It really was kind of a party job though, so be warned. Go to work for 8 hours, party till 6 or 8 am. Sleep and repeat. Definitely don't apply if you are not interested in sex with random women every night, or have a problem with drinking.

edit: Her biggest downside was the smoking, but I am pretty sure that doesn't happen in casinos anymore - I don't smoke and don't gamble, so I might be out to lunch on that one.

edit2: Keep in mind, you could work at both the Stampede Casino or the Elbow, and it will be the same kind of thing.

pfft, if you want the respect of your neighbors and peers - get a job making those delicious and affordable mini-donuts, second would be corn dogs and third would be making the fried treat of the stampede (i.e. oreo, chocolate bars, toenail clippings etc). Heck, just get anything near a frying station.

the rest of us will also admire you as you slowly get sucked into teh lifestyle of carny-folk - enjoy freedome while the rest of us work for soul-sucking nameless and faceless corporations.

I worked in the amusement park in the ticket booth. Would not recommend that job. It's 8 hours of being stuck in a booth dealing with a huge lineup of impatient (and rightfully so) customers. You're expected to make all the calculations in your head on the spot. Any errors you make are deducted from your minimum wage salary.

Honestly, unless you're a hot girl in her early 20s, most of the jobs at the Stampede are downright awful. Even then, the job is probably awful, but at least you get compensated very well for it. I knew a friend who made $1000/night working a beer tub at Cowboys during the Stampede.

I also used to work at the Silver Dollar, and that was not my experience at all. It was a solid job, in the sense that Frank Sisson (I think he's probably dead now) knew how to take care of staff. You got free food, reasonable breaks, never understaffed, etc....

However, most of the staff were 80s burnouts and random skids. Nice people, but probably only 2-3 women under the age of 30 in the whole place. I'm not sure that's the place I'd be looking to have random sex with co-workers. Unless your thing is cougs.

Smoking is only allowed at the native casinos (ie: Grey Eagle, Kananaskis).

I'd love to deal blackjack for a few month gig.

I got a job six years ago as a "madden" at the Stampede manually masturbating horses and bulls shortly before they were cinched up and ridden. This technique gets them extra excited and they buck harder so long as you don't stroke them past their threshold.

Anyways, everyone said I was an absolute natural so they had me back for three consecutive years afterwards.

They pay by the horse/bull so with a strong arm and wrist and a willingness to get a little dirty there's DEFINITELY some money to be made!

When I was 15 (30 now) I got my first job ever working as a dishwasher in the Roundup Pub for that years Stampede. Money wise, it was my first paycheck ever so I remember the exact number, $631.35 plus $85 in tips payed out in cash on my last shift, not too shabby at all. I felt rich! At the time, not bad for 9 days of work. The actual job...hell. It was a disgusting job because one of the guys I worked with would eat the food coming in off customers plates. I would be about to throw something into the garbage and he would say "hold on! There's some fries and half a sandwich on there!" and down the hatch it went at incredible speed. Gross. By the end of the job the smell of BBQ beef on a bun would make me ill. I didn't work there again the next year. In conclusion, I don't recommend working as a dishwasher at the Stampede. Unless you need $716.35 quite badly.

Yeah, I was referring to during the Stampede on the grounds. I can't imagine the Silver Dollar being a place you would want to pick up women.
