Temperature difference? The phone was warm, the counter cold and the phone cooled too fast? If it's a crack that is...
Pretty sure it's a crack. I posted a pic in the cell phone repair thread. The temperature thing makes sense. Only thing that could make sense.
I've found a place that can do the repair, but I think I would rather do it myself. Waiting on to hear about getting a name for someone that sells OEM back pieces on eBay.
It's not an LTE phone, it will work with Rogers though. It's HSPDA+
According to this video tutorial the Nexus 4 is LTE capable. You just need to enable it. A few provisions and cautions at the bottom may not be worth it though.

It's a little hack though or loophole or whatever, pretty sure they closed that with the latest update.
I think I may have found a solution for the glass crack on my Nexus 4.
I had been searching around for a replacement back, but I didn't want to possibly have the same issue again. So while reading http://mobilesyrup.com/ today I saw an add for a product called DBrand. http://dbrand.com/
Anyway, check out the site. They have lots of perfectly cut skins for the Nexus 4 and other Android and Apple devices. Even game controllers! They're out of Canada and the skins look to be a good price. About $9 each, plus shipping.
I'm going to post this exact post in the repair thread, as well.
Here's a quick review and application of the product:
I think the best part is how their skins fit EXACTLY to the phones. No extra stuff not covered. Search for other review on YouTube, and you'll see what I mean.
BTW: Wireless charging STILL works with the skin, as I saw on another review of the DBrand skins.
I think the only reason I'd be hesitant to do one of these is just the fact that the back would still be cracked underneath, and if/when it comes to offload the phone I wouldn't get full value as it's cracked.
Quality of the photos aren't that good, but you get the idea.
I personally like the look better, plus the phone isn't as slippery anymore...and the crack/scratch is covered. Makes the phone look new again. I don't think I'll be removing this skin.
Those dbrand things are pretty cool. I have a cheap plastic cover around mine that has work wonders but I think I might order a couple of those and see how the work.
[dbrand inc.] email customs[at]dbrand (customs@dbrand.com) with your request and we'll get back to you with a quote. we only take a limited number of custom requests each week, so try to get your request in on a sunday night/monday morning.
So I've postulated this on other Nexus related forums, and have yet to receive an answer, and I'm just tired of Googling random speculation, so maybe someone here has an answer.
Anyway:
I've owned a Galaxy Nexus for well over a year now, still think it's a great phone. However, I have a stock Rogers GT-I9250M (w/ bloatware) non-rooted phone, and am travelling to China for a few weeks.
1. Will the phone work with a non-Rogers SIM? I've seen more than my fair share on conflicting information (ie, Rogers' official stance is that the GN on their network is locked, but 99% of the internet says all Nexus products are unlock at OEM), and I'd like to know for sure.
2. If so, will the phone work on either of the major Chinese telecom's network bands?
