I think Hartley told the team to try to force poorly timed drop passes whenever possible tonight

Wins like the one against the Oilers where there was some positives and good play are a lot easier to take than the Phoenix and Colorado wins where they were slightly less crappy than the other team with nothing really positive to take from it.

I don't see a team trading a top 3 for the 6th and 17th pick. Not really sure what the benefit would be and certainly not worth the drop from a Jones/Drouin/Mackinnon to a Lindholm/Nurse/Monahan.

That's a good call. I really want them to lose but I feel like I'm crapping on somebody's picnic in the gamethread, I don't begrudge them cheering for the team however they want to.

Nice one, way to take the high road with that useless post that added absolutely nothing.

Yeah you certainly don't get it. This remaining games in the season aren't about winning. They don't translate to next season. It's all garbage time now and the only thing that matters now is getting the best possible player available in the draft. I would rather this season not be a regular occurrence but if the Flames don't get a franchise player to build around there won't be much winning for a long time. I don't want the players to quit playing hard but I am hoping for the bounces to go to the opposition.

I think everybody who has this position has probably explained themselves at least once already.

The bottom line is that I want to see the Flames win a cup and if they win the last 6 games in a row, that goal will be further away.

did you know that up until this year the Flames are the only club to have never drafted in the top five, I kind of like having that distinction, they don't need to lose to win a cup.

Did you know that since they won the cup in 1989 they have only been out of the first round once? The team is the definition of mediocre we need a game changing player and it looks like a top 3-4 pick will land us one

I rather have a couple cups by losing than not have any at all during my lifetime.

Looks like another win where the team doesn't play that well and yet still gets the unneeded points.

Would be much easier to stomach these wins and subsequent worse pick if the team was playing well while getting them.

Instead we get meh play and useless wins.

The irony that kind of summarizes our history - a useless plug like Begin is going to cost us a franchise center.

Yeah I posted in another thread that just when this franchise finally looked to be losing the right way they go all Young Guns and play only bad enough to pick outside the top 5. Sigh. This organization is good at repeating history though. When they are good they have always been chokers and when they are bad they are never bad enough to get the truly elite players. Sigh.

Some how we have a culture of winning when it doesn't matter, and losing when it does.

He came back from the young guns era with the sole purpose to bring back the young guys era of perpetual mediocrity
