At least we had the opportunity to turn Tom into a few prospects (for the record I think I would take Granlund, Wotherspoon, and Horak everyday over Tom), he just flat left them high and dry.
You know, I still think that was Feasters best trade so far. He was stuck in a corner, forced to deal last-minute with only one team (who knew Tom wanted to play for them), and he still managed to steal such great assets. Total steal.

The Bruins simply blew the Hurricanes back to Carolina, 6-2. The Bruins put this game into cruise control and never looked back. The Leafs pretty much clinched a playoff spot with their gutsy 4-3 reg time win. They blew a 3-1 lead but Kessel gets the winner in the middle of the 3rd period. Schneider gets the SHUTOUT in the Canucks 2-0 nothing win. The Canucks 2nd goal had Phoenix score on their own net, it was empty and a pass to the point had no dman there and it ended up in the empty net. The Ducks keep their hopes for 1st place alive as they beat the Oilers 2-1 in reg time. LOL.
With 9 games left those 4 points (5 really as I don't think the Oilers hold a tie breaker with any team) I think they are almost done. Should make the game on Saturday interesting.
Did a quick look at the standing and Detroit is the only team I think they can realistically catch (STL is 5 points up but 2 games in hand while MIN is 6 points and 1 game in hand).
If Detroit goes 5-4 the rest of the way the Oilers would need to finish 7-1-1.
Coilers arent making the playoffs. They are still incredibly weak defensively. 12th or 13th place for them is most likely.
If they finish 12th or 13th in a shortened season with all of those first round draft picks in a row and Kevin Lowe being involved in the hockey decision making since they floundered out of the playoffs in the last 6 years and 7 out of the last 8 years then you have to deem him as a complete and utter failure.
I don't see all that big of an improvement in the Oilers, they still own very little depth outside of their big draft picks, that defense is terrible and the only bright light back there is Dubnyk who is a surprise this year.
They're a badly built club who continually gets rewarded for failure. But honestly it has to be time for them to gut that management team and coaching staff and start over. To me they're still three years at least from being a playoff team.
Hopefully the Flames don't follow the Oiler model.

Watching Carolina tonight they are like Avs bad. Seeming like a good chance Calgary could end up in 4th last and if a lower ranked team wins the lottery get screwed out of the big 4 players entirely.

But hey, at least the cheer for wins people on this forum will be happy, right? Go 26th place?
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Flames get passed by a few teams and fall out of the 'big 4' race. It's like our annual push for the playoffs, but in reverse.
How on earth Florida, Tampa, Carolina, and Colorado are looking worse than the Flames with all the talent those teams have just blows my mind. None of those teams deserve a top 3 pick even half as much as we do.
Too bad Feaster couldn't have dumped a couple more vets. Not only would it be better for the Flames long term to have a guy like Nemisz in the lineup instead of Stempniak, chances of a high pick would be way better with a few minor tweaks like that.
Am still a little disappointed he wasn't able to move one or two more vets out on deadline day. Weisbrod talking about dropping down with one of the 1st rounders to get a 2nd back in that article the other day really hammered home how nice it would have been to move out an older player for a 2nd. I guess it's not exactly a secret how crappy most of the Flames roster is among other GMs.
Classic Flames move would be, go on a run, end up drafting 6th, trade down to 10th for a 2nd rounder. Man cheering for this team over the last 20 years has made me fatalistic.
It doesn't really matter if people cheer for or against wins. There are three other monumentally bad teams out there, with Tampa close behind.
Be happy that Tampa is winning right now. It's not fair that Carolina and Tampa could finish behind us when they already are loaded with talent and we need a big star. Sucks.

Did he really say that?
