Man, I'm going to miss Kipper next year.

I am not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but Miikka was awesome here (as were others). Meeting your hockey heroes and having them do something like this really sticks with you as a kid.

After reading this thread and seeing some of the negative responses in regards to Kipper I am disappointed that after everything he has done for the Flames he is being thought of so poorly by some. Things like this are but one of many reasons why I am a fan of both Miikka Kiprusoff and the Flames.

Actually because of the lockout and prorating salary, he will earn just under 3 million this season in real money IIRC.

Sure sounded like the Leafs were interested, and that Kipper considered it. Maybe it was just a really bad time for Mikka (birth and baby complications) plus with Kipper having a rough season as well.

If he does decide to keep playing, making the move in the off season instead would make the transition much smoother, plus he'd get a training camp/fresh start with his new team instead of jumping head first into the middle of a pressured packed playoff drive.
I've lost a lot of respect for Dreger ever since he turned his attention to "breaking trades". I am of the opinion that Dreger completely exaggerated Kipper's interest in playing for the Maple Leafs.

I took that into account

$61k x 48 games = $2.928.000

Who's whining?

I can't see what Kipper brings to the Leafs at this stage, he might play better somewhere else but at his age thats a crap shoot at best.
Loungo, even at his price, makes far more sense, and if Reimer shows any stones at all during the playoffs they would be better to stick with him.

Kipper spent the last decade being quietly awesome for this team. The Flames and fans should be pleased that a player of his quality wants to retire as a Flame. Especially given the mess the team is now. The last ten years were mostly a lot better than the previous ten and Kipper is a big part of the memory of the last decade. No need to taint that memory or be bitter over the fact that the time has passed. All good things end some time.

I would bet real good money that Kipper doesn't retire at the end of this season.

I see him being traded in the off season, and he continues his career for at least another 3 years.

I'll take that bet if its really open. I wonder if I can sucker Captain_Obvious into that bet too.

See thread: http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...ight=kiprusoff

If he does get traded, i would think it will be to Toronto. Screwing the Canucks over even more would make me very happy.

My gut feeling tells me he retires at seasons end. I don't think he wants to play for another team and have to uproot his family. He has a couple of kids now and will head back to Finland to raise them and possibly play for a club team back home.

I don't think Luongo will be traded to Toronto. Nonis pretty much lost all credibility as far as Gillis and Luongo is concerned. Kipper being traded to Toronto will likely help the Canucks.

My money is on him retiring . Option 2 is what you said. I don't think there will be an option 3 of Kipper playing for Calgary. Sounds like Berra has already agreed to sign and my guess is that it is a one way contract close to $1 million. I am pretty sure Ramo is going to come over now and my bet is Feaster gives him, $1.5 million +, a year.

I believe Berra signed an ELC, which means it's a two-way contract.

Berra is 26. I don't think players at his age get an option of ELC.

Sorry my bad i looked it up and European players aged 25-27 can sign a 1 year ELC.

If Kipper wouldn't go to the Leafs I can't see him signing somewhere else in the offseason. Option 3 might be available if one of Berra or Ramo don't pan out during training camp. Maybe Kipper retires and becomes our goalie coach.

I don't see Kipper being a good goalie coach. I really don't see him wanting to be a goalie coach. Are there any goalie coaches that have made the kind of money he has? If he retires, then he's fishing in Finland.
