agree Boston put together a better package for Iggy for the prospects anyways. JMO.

Well the Stars did sign Jagr for 4.5 mill, as a UFA, and did not have to give up anything besides the cash to get him there.

So even just getting a 2nd for him is a great return.

Flames did better return wise but there are lots of factors. Dallas got something when they would have lost him for free
In a pure 15 game rental sense it could be argued that their value is equal.

Wait, so Bartkowski is all of a sudden way better than Agostino and Hanowski? The only better prospect was Khoklochev. I agree Khokochev is better than either prospect from the Pens, but Bartkowski is worse than the two, so it's almost a wash IMO.

That is debatable. I personally think that the two college prospects Calgary got are quite good and fill a major need in the organization. Solid hockey trade from a Flames perspective and should help the team over the next couple of years as both players filter into the system this summer and next. I think you got a little excited about Koko because of a YouTube video from prospect camp and haven't considered the potential for the small Russian to fit into a team of already small prospects. The size from the Pittsburgh trade is needed and appreciated.

I can just hear Dallas Now "Damn you Feester, you've deflated the trade market for sellers everywhere."

Down goes brown @DownGoesBrown: I think NHL teams missed the memo on how a seller’s market is supposed to work. #tradecentre

Jimmy Murphy ‏@MurphysLaw74 4m
Regarding conditional second round pick to Dallas in Jagr trade, it is a second that could turn into first if Bruins go far in playoffs.

A second round pick and two prospects for an old Jagr rental? Kaching! Well played Stars, well played.

Word has it that before the trade is finalized Jagr had to call Crosby and see if he wanted him in Pittsburgh. Since his jaw is busted up and he can't talk Jagr decided on Boston.

Consdiering Bartkowski is already playing pro and ready for a cup of coffee in the bigs at worst he is on par with the other 2 in asset value.

But if you want to think the other 2 are worth more than Bartkowski to feel better about the trade then go ahead.

The Russian kid alone probably has more asset value than both kids from Pitt put together. Its nowhere near a wash.

Issue is they miscalculated it as a "sellers market".

Yes there are only a few sellers but there are also only a few buyers.

Due to the parity teams are afraid to make a deal that will hurt the future for a short term gain when there are no guarantees you are even going to make the playoffs yet.

The Pens, Bruins, Kings, Hawks and Canucks are the only real buyers because they know they have a chance at the cup. They also aren't going to overpay because they already have good, very deep teams, that are looking at competing for years to come.

The rest of the teams are all looking to more stand pat if anything because they have a shot at the playoffs but nothing is guaranteed.

The value of draft picks and prospects had likely never been higher due to the cap. No teams can just sign who they want and the teams are all realizing the value of developing young players. If this was even five years ago, first rounders would be flying all over the place

Agree to disagree then. Bartkowski will probably end up max being about as good as Derick Smith. We don't need those type of players as they're a dime a dozen.

This return does not justify Feaster not getting proper return for Iginla and Bouwmeester. People are simply trying to find something to defend about the people running our team, which I can understand, but there isn't anything. They are doing a bad job

This return doesn't make the Morrow, Murray, Regher, etc. trades just go away. If anything, Feaster probably lowered the market value for forwards by accepting such a crap deal for Iginla

I didn't see any mention of it on the last few pages, so I'm not sure if someone else has posted this (I would assume they have), but the prospects going to Dallas are Lane MacDermid http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/lane_macdermid/
and Cody Payne http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/cody-payne/
