I guess the argument could be that in 2010, when the Oilers picked 1st overall for the first time, they only had one first round pick.

The Flames have a pick from the Blues and Penguins (likely 30th overall), the Oilers also got a mid first in the Penner trade and the #1 pick. The Flames need to sign veteran presence if they want to avoid Oiler esque rebuild.
