Doubt the Leafs part with their 1st. One of Colborne/Ashton and a 2nd would make me very happy.

With an extension and few other pieces it is possible to fetch a first. I would love to get torontos first. Highly unlikely but im keeping my fingers crossed

I'd be fine with a 2nd round pick. Would also clear up almost 6 million in cap space next year.

With the cap going down, the Flames might be able to pick up some solid players for cheaper than normal, due to teams needing to readjust to cope with the lower salary cap.

My gut feeling is this doesn't end well. If for some reason Colton Orr ends up on the Flames roster, I will likely lose my mind.

Furthering the ineptness of this team to manage its assets properly. Imagine what the return would have been if we traded him last deadline?

best way to deal with Kipper is to get him extended in the summer, then have a full camp and playing (presumably) better next year, then trade him.

This would be the definition of selling low

What about Kipper and the Pens 1st round pick for Toronto's 1st Round Pick + a 3rd (2nd if he signs)?

I don't hate Cox as much as many here do but based on many of his comments this year and last I do wonder how much Western Conference hockey he actually watches.

Seems to rely more on box scores and generalizations than actual facts.

He may have some knowledge of what the Leafs want to do and I don't think it will be much more than that but I do think a 2nd is the minimum they would/should get.

After some of the incredibly underwhelming returns the Flames have had to endure I am tempering my expectations.

Kipper for some guy we have never heard of and a conditional 3rd rounder.

Might be able to make that happen. I'd dig it. Probably end up with a 20th (ish) pick while T.O. ends up with 27th-30th. 7 spots for a goalie who could help them go on a run and at the very least help mentor Riemer with his game.

Mid-level prospect (Colborne or Finn have been mentioned here and would be a decent fit) + 2nd should be the asking price.

Otherwise, just keep him and hope he plays better next year to raise his value back up.

This could also be a strategically placed leak to tell Gillis to lower his price for Luongo.

I want to be able to cheer for Kipper in the playoffs but if he goes to TOR I hope they get swept in the first round.

Yeah, I'm at the point where I'm expecting them to lose the trade, just hoping it's not downright horrid. Would love to be pleasantly surprised for once.

Not only would the Flames be selling low, bu tthen they would likely turn around and pay top dollar for another goalie

Absolutely ridiculous management if they do that
