Seattle/OAK trade official...a 5th round pick and condtional pick for Flynn.

Seattle saves $5.25 m of cap space.

Oak to trade Palmer likely to ARI for a similar pick.

Interesting to see who Seattle lands as a backup. I don't think they'll use the read option any more then last year (which wasn't as much as SF), but still a QB with some mobility is likely moreso than a Flynn, and of course, a lot cheaper.

After repeating his claim to Thomas Roberts on MSNBC this morning, Ayanbadejo appeared on CNN this evening. Anderson Cooper asked him if he knows these four players. Ayanbadejo's response:

I still don't think the United States is ready yet. Things have changed a lot. However, if I was a gay player, I wouldn't feel comfortable coming out of the closet just yet. The media attention will probably be unbearable. Also, we have all been to football games. Alcohol and emotion don't seem to mix too well. Can you imagine the abusive language at these players going up the tunnel if they happen to drop a pass or miss a block?

Someday it will happen. Jackie Robinson would have had a much tougher time than what the first openly gay player will ultimately have. However, Jackie Robinson was hand picked because of his personality and baseball talent. They knew he would perform under pressure and that he wouldn't retaliate. The first openly gay player cannot be hand picked. It's a personal decision to come out of the closet. Jackie Robinson couldn't hide the fact that he was African American.

It will be tough for the players coming out of the closet. All the power to them. I wouldn't be brave enough to do it if I was in their shoes. After the first person or two does come out, it will slowly become a smaller and smaller issue. The first one though, will have to have very thick skin and be willing to put up with constant media attention.
