It has nothing to do with the black drifter, I supported her from the beginning because of zero evidence and no motive.
The prosecutors would have you believe it was a a rift between them over cleaning the house,a sex game gone wrong or that Kercher had refused to take part in an orgy. every time one of these ######ed "motives" were squashed they tried the next one...it was like a 12th century witchhunt from the very beginning.
The Italian Justice should be ashamed of themselves for such rubbish, especially on such a world stage.

Say what? The issue isn't media coverage, it is the fact the Italian legal system is so wacky. The girl had nothing to do with the crime.

You don't really have to watch it, she really had nothing to do with anything. The prosecutor invented a sequence of events that had no evidence.

I still suggest that anyone that wants to comment on this watches that video.
I actually watched the entire thing again. It makes my blood boil, I even cry in a couple of parts, even now that I know she is free. This is no joke. Watch that video. The Italian justice system is equal to that of a third world country. What they did to this girl is nothing less than pure evil or total incompetence. I would go as far to say that anyone that does not watch that video should not comment on this at all. The entire subject is possibly the most disgusting display of injustice I can think of in a western country. The fact that this is going back to trial is beyond comprehension. I hope the new trial exposes Italy for what it is. But from what I have seen, this country is not able to conduct itself to the standard of a modern western civilisation.

I don't think my posts are conveing what I'm trying to say very well. I'm talking about media in general. It just so happens the way they are handling this story is a good example of how the media, and society, picks their poster children.

How do you figure? This is a very unique story because the suspect has nothing to do with the crime. Regardless of how the business of selling newspapers or advertising works, this is a compelling case.

Amanda Knox is lucky she is back in the U.S. Her ex-boyfriend is still there in Italy and probably has no way out. If I were him, I would be looking for asylum options right now.

To be fair, I know asking people to watch a 2hour video is a bit much. Really the most compelling part starts at the 40min mark when the retired FBI agent goes through the evidence. It isn't even a twisting of it. He just simply goes through the evidence, that part convinced me back when I thought she was guilty. The FBI agent thought she was guilty as well until he looked directly at the physical evidence.

Yeah, I read that article back when we were talking about this before. The Interrogation That Never Was portion of the article is unbelievable. She never had a chance.
Same goes for Raffaele Sollecito, but that poor guy is still in Italy.

I'm thinking that extradition request is going to get lost on some interns desk.
I don't know too much about the details of the case really, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if she was involved, but man. It's over, Italy.

I think Italy allows 3 trials and appeals... so this could be appealed by defendants again, won, and sent back to the courts even one more time.
With regards to extradition, many are suggesting that the US government will refer to the principle of double jeopardy, believing she has already had her day in court and won the appeal- even though this doesn't apply in Italy.
Older article, but this sums it up:
http://blogs.lawyers.com/2013/08/ama...tion-unlikely/
Quote:
Even the possibility that Knox would be retried may seem strange to Americans. The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibits “double jeopardy,” meaning a person can’t be tried twice for the same crime.
Like most European nations, Italy does not forbid it, treating a retrial as a simple continuation of the first one. “Under Italian law, a prosecutor can appeal an acquittal,” confirms Adam H. Rosenblum of The Rosenblum Law Firm in Albany, N.Y.
Her home country seems to be taking her side. “Since the principle of double jeopardy is highly regarded in the United States, experts believe that there is a good chance the United States will not extradite her to Italy for trial,” Rosenblum says. “However, under Italian law she can be tried in absentia.”

I think there is almost zero chance she gets extradited. This business of being tried, acquitted, then re-tried is bogus. Considering the corruption surrounding the case, I don't see how the U.S. would send her back.

Could Italy put out an "Warrant" for her arrest and any travel outside the US could be risky?

Knox, 26, was at home in Seattle, U.S. with her family for the guilty verdict.
She told American reporters this evening: 'I am frightened and saddened by this unjust verdict'
She was sentenced to 28 years and six months in prison - but she has vowed never to return to Italy.
Knox has now become 'an international fugitive' - and she will be appealing.
Meredith’s brother Lyle says verdict was 'the best we could have hoped for'
Re-conviction opens the way for a likely legal and diplomatic tug of war between Italy and the US.
The case now goes to the Italian Supreme Court which is expected to uphold the conviction.
Knox's ex-boyfriend Sollecito received a sentence of 25 years but will remain free and must surrender his passport.
Meredith's siblings were present for the verdict in Florence at court

Not if said participating country wants to unnecessarily sour relations with the U.S. I doubt Interpol would put up that kind of bureaucracy for a national already within her home country and not seeking to leave.

Hmm wonder how much of a bounty Italy would pay to get her back?
Amanda - "But I'm innocent"
Bounty Hunter - "I don't care"
