It is not a factor in his development at all. Don't get me wrong I am not knocking him in any way - I like the pick. But it has been covered - for almost a full year now, every post has to include "he's so young'. It's getting old.
And it is not an indicator that he is on the sweet tack to the NHL. His play is what will determine his track - let's just focus on that. His play is good enough on its own.
He won't be 'young' next year. He'll be a sophomore. So it won't be a story. But you may as well evaluate Gaudreau without considering his height if you're going to evaluate Jankowski without considering his age. Everything matters.

Gaudreau will remain short. Jankowski gets older every day, like the rest of us.
All I am saying is that it isn't a story any more. Continueing to use his youth to colour his progress just comes off as making excuses. His play stands up on its own.
If that is in response to my comments....i do not believe he is a bust. He is a talented project that needs to get a lot stronger.
I don't think he's a bust either. Mocking the people who think he's a horrible pick, who would then turn around and ask why we don't have a number one center.

A player's age will be next to their name for their entire careers as a way to gauge accomplishments and future potential. It is magnified in the case of Jankowski because he is the third youngest player in the entire league, as you said yourself, and it "colours" his progress as being extremely positive. It would come off as an excuse if this weren't a thread about how good Jankowski looks, but it is, and no one framed it in an excuse kind of way.
The way Jankowski works with that huge stick in tight really reminds me of Nieuwendyk..

Probably just because I am in my mid 30's; but tough for me to get excited by any highlights when its highlights of full facemasks vs. full facemasks.
I realize that's the rules of college game and all that, but just that appearance seems so far away from an NHL style game and NHL-style opponents, to take it seriously.
