Really concerning though that it appears that the implosion of the ROR deal was what forced their hand to accept a rebuild. Makes you wonder how committed to it they'll actually be.

I think Bouw would be a good fit in Detroit. A good offensive style system that preaches control and attacking the offensive zone. He would thrive in that. I might be alone on this, but I've always had a soft spot for Detroit in my heart and with that gapping hole on the backend with Lidstrom now gone, Bouw would be a great replacement.

I think there is a chance to reddem our "face" with Boston here...I propose Matt Bartkowski and Alex Khoklachev and possibly a 1st round pick.

Say Berglund, Ryan, Coutourier, Filppula and the likes. Like people are saying, you can't just offload eveyone for picks and prospects but maybe a bouwmeester trade can bring some proven NHL talent.
|
My wishlist. Nino Neiderreiter (NYI) - 6'2, 208 (RW), 20 years old Ty Rattie (STL) - 5'11, 170 (RW), 20 years old Chris Stewart (STL) - 6'2, 232 (RW), 25 years old Patrik Berglund (STL) - 6'4, 219 (C), 24 years old Peter Mueller (FLA) - 6'2, 204 (C), 24 years old Sean Couturier (PHI) - 6'3, 197 (C), 20 years old

Okay, so getting a player under 25 that has proven NHL talent is a no go for some of you? Wow, not everythng has to be a first and an 18 year old.

I agree, if this is supposed to be a rebuild than a first rounder is a must. This team needs to go a new direction and they've started. Having multiple first rounders would help set this team up in the future.

The Islanders perhaps? Sitting in 9th in the East right now and have been rumored in the past to covet Bouwmeester.

You don't get kudos for being dragged kicking and screaming into something that has been obvious for YEARS.
More like shame on the team for playing blind, deaf, and dumb to the plight of the organization.

Okay okay okay, we get it. We've been hearing these posts for three years now. Anyone who wanted rebuild can you please gloat for the next hour, pat yourselves on the back and move the eff on. Iginla is traded, Bouwmeester is next. Let it go already.

This makes or breaks Feaster...with Iginla, King and the owners have to be involved (moreso than they already are). With Bouw, its more up to Feaster pulling off a deal more on his own.
He's got one last huge bargaining chip, with the player playing the way right now the way he did to have teams line up for him July 1 2009.
This is big pressure for the franchise...the return has to be there with a 1st rounder, and a NHL/NHL ready guy that can come in and start playing next year, plus another peice, IMO.

If Nyquist really is in play for Bouwmeester they need to do this deal..
Bouw is a top 2 D man entering his prime, this team won't be ready to compete for a few years. But grabbing a guy like Nyquist is a worth while trade.
By the sounds of it Iggy wants to play 5 more years, so not including this year, we have about 4 years to turn it around while he wins his Cup, then he can come back and mentor the Young Guns II for a season or two before retiring.
6 teams.. Detroit, San Jose, St. Louis, Philly.. who else?

Talked to a friend in the Sharks organization and they have shown interest in Bouwmeester. Sharks are 1 of the 6 (Detroit being another) who are interested.

This could get interesting. He's (arguably) playing up to his contract this year, and he's signed for another 1......meaning that realistically he's not a rental, and we can trade him to anyone (if he agrees). If the team he goes to this year doesn't go all the way, they get another opportunity with him next year.
If he goes I expect a MUCH better return than Iginla.

Some have said that JBow could get more than Iggy. Hope so! Don't panic, Jay (Feaster)!

Bouw will not accept to waive his NMC until next year, would be my next guess.

Really excited for the return we could be getting for him.
He'd probably get double what Iginla got. I want to see them with at least 3 picks in the first round and I think any Bouwmeester trade would include a first rounder at least and a real good prospect.
