These are the artists that appear most frequently in my playlists:

Sloan
Joel Plaskett
Blue Rodeo
Feist
Sam Roberts
The New Pornographers
The High Dials
K-OS
Two Hours Traffic
Matt Mays
Cuff The Duke
Thrush Hermit
Limblifter
Metric
The Flashing Lights
Arcade Fire
Neil Young
Sarah Harmer
The Rural Alberta Advantage

And I do have a soft spot for The Hip and Gord Downie, especially their post-radio years.

Can't stand Rush though. Sorry everyone.

After the first one, the rest are in no particular order:

The Tragically Hip
54-40
The Watchmen
Matthew GOod
The Tea Party
The Headstones
Billy Talent
Three Days Grace
Our Lady Peace
I Mother Earth
The Killjoys
13 Engines
Rymes With Orange
Rusty
Junkhouse
Odds
Sum 41
Treble Charger
Finger 11 (Rainbow Butt Monkeys)
Age of Electric
Lilmblifter
Big Wreck
Sloan

Bet you can't guess which decade of music influences me the most?

Like many others, I didn't stick to a top 10 because when it comes to Canadian musicians, there is your favorite band/artist , and the rest are all just great.

Nobody missing Pure either
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqAW8K3ReMc
Met these guys at the Den and had a few beers with them after their concert. Always wondered what happened to them. Should get together and do a tour with 13 Engines and Treble Charger. Actually saw Treble Charger open a show for 13 Engines at the old Republik. That was a good show. For some reason Weezer was there watching. The Republik always had famous/semi famous people randomly showing up back in those days. Many of these bands had short life spans but for a 3-5 year period they were very good.

What about Red Autumn Fall? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQbAmu8-DQw

http://www.myspace.com/redautumnfall

Never made it big but were big in Calgary at one time. Saw them waaaaay too many times though!

Uber Watchmen fan here. I didn't fully appreciate their music until after they broke up. I've seen them in concert eight times since the reunion shows in 2008.

Some great bands and artists listed, and I'll definitely echo the sentiment that Watchmen are one of the truly great Canadian bands.

One band that hasn't been listed is Crash Vegas. I still listen to Aurora more than just about any other album from the early 90s, it holds up really well, both for its original material as well as the brilliant cover of Pocahontas. If you've got it kicking around in some cardboard box in your basement, dig it out and give it a listen.

Have to mention a shout-out to The Flashing Lights.

Saw them on Coast To Coast one day back in '99 or so and had to go out and buy their album.

Where do they typically play? I never see their shows advertised anywhere.

Well, I've traveled to see them for the majority of the shows. That first show was so good that it baited the hook for the rest of them.

My show history is:

October 31, 2008 - Calgary, SAIT Gateway
July 7, 2009 - Calgary, Wild Horse Saloon Stampede Tent
July 29, 2009 - Regina, Buffalo Days Exhibition
September 24 & 25, 2010 - Toronto, Horseshoe Tavern
December 3 & 4, 2010 - Winnipeg, The Pyramid
November 26, 2011 - Vancouver, Commodore Ballroom

Awesome live show experience as I usually stand first row on the right.

I meant to participate in this before, but forgot. Just thought of it again as Canada Day approaches. Canadian bands/artists that have meant the most to me over 40 years:

Blue Rodeo
Tragically Hip
Arcade Fire
Barney Bentall & the Legendary Hearts
Sam Roberts
Doc Walker
Barenaked Ladies
Tom Cochrane (with and without Red Rider)
Daniel Lanois
Jann Arden

Temptation was strong to list some of my 80s staples as a MuchMusic addict back then: Maestro Fresh-Wes, Honeymoon Suite, Gowan, etc.

The lack of Honeymoon Suite on here is sad. I always thought they were an under rated band and had some catchy tunes.
