This entire fiasco is demonstrating that the quality of one's mustache does not influence the quality of one's project.

At this point I've given up on the game until some more updates happen that will fix the regional and AI issues. Both Civ 5 Bundle ($12) and Tropico 4 Bundle ($10) both came on sale through Steam so they can keep me busy for a while. I'm happy with the game when it works but it seems once you get past a certain point it just gets all screwy and it's getting annoying. However I think I need to get over expecting a game to come out complete now a days. Being able to update the game at a later date is a huge plus for the company and huge negative for the consumer at initial release. Oh well...

One of my cities is at 320,000 people (region of 410,000 and only two cities so far) and it's just a damn nightmare. I've (obviously) run out of room to expand, and despite my putting in street cars AND buses (and no intersections for the streetcars to get confused about), traffic is a nightmare. As a result of this, police, fire, and ambulance coverage are as good as useless. Of course the game insists I need more... as I stare at my fire-trucks stopped at a green light because in their infinite wisdom, they decided to make it 'part of the game' that emergency services queue just like normal traffic. Sorry, that's not how a REAL city works!
My city makes money hand over fist thanks to resources, but without destroying the damn thing and redoing it all, the city boundaries just aren't big enough to fit all the important pieces in.

Update from the lead scripter, aka screw it upper, today.
http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/ar...traffic-update
No real news from a few days ago. Still the same changes coming currently in testing. Same example video.

How do you fit resource mining in a city with that population without causing sickening air pollution?
For those not making hand over fist in money -Play this game - plan a new city but start with lots of money so you do it properly not on the fly with patch work
- tax EVERYTHING at 20% (max).
- Eliminate expenses you don't need as your city shrinks. I.e. remove all hospitals off the bat, but keep your water treatment plants and destory them only as capacity is freeded - your new utopia doesn't want to start on ground full of sewage
- Destroy ALL buildings which become abandonded
- Remove more expenses as needed (every dollar per hour saved adds up alot at the end)
- See how much money you can make before you only making $4000/hr, at this point, your just killing time
- DESTROY EVERYTHING THATS left - via disater or bulldozer
- Plan a new grid - You now have millions of dollars to buy the roads you want off the bat, and to plan for odd shape buildings with your dream grid and setting
- Buy things you don't normallly have and cause problems to place later - airport, treatment plants, powerplant service roads for future expansion
- TRY NOT TO build to much waster but still planning for expansion - You will have negative $/hr for a while but you need to get positve again, your bundle of cash will run out before you know it, and you will be poor again, trust me
- Enjoy utopia .... untill you get back to 250,000 sims at which case despite starting anew all your planning goes down the toilet somehow and your city becomes the same disater it was at the start
- Repeat
In all honestly, i had a city of 150,000 sims, and i was able to start anew with over $2,000,000 and I am currently enjoying my new set up, but swearing at myself for the mistakes i made again.

saw FarCry 3 on sale on Steam, so that was enough to get me to uninstall SimCity and shelve it for good. i'd say i'd hope for it to get better, but with the SimCity Store coming in the near future showing EA's plan to nickel and dime you ala The Sims, i think it's better to just forget that this game ever existed

When you place the industrial areas, it gives you the direction of the wind and it never changes. So I just decide which resource I want to go after, and plan my residential areas away from where the wind will blow the air pollution.

It's really awesome how in a city building game, one of the most ideal builds is to keep your population as low as possible.

I had high hopes for this game, kind of glad I procrastinated on the purchase. I'll wait now until things get ironed out.

The $20 off $30 bonus expires tomorrow, did anyone use it? Any games in their list of titles for that deal worth getting?

What a short deadline for a coupon, another thing that pissed me off. I don't want to give them another $10+, so I'm not using it.

I'll probably go with Medal of Honor Warfighter as I have bf3 and dead space and mass effect are both the 3rd so probably MOD will be easiest to get into

LOL those are pretty bad. Bejeweled 3 and Plants vs Zombies can be had for $5 or less on Steam. Warfighter was a terrible game. ME3 and BF3 have been out for ages and can probably be bought for $10-$20. Dead Space 3 is probably the only one worth grabbing.
