He's a Jets beat writer, not the most credible based on his past

No real need to be credible there, the Jets aren't going to be good, predicting a last place finish isn't really saying much.

Pats sign Donald Jones.
Jones projects to a role as an outside receiver in the Patriots' system. Where he lands on the depth chart remains uncertain at this time, as the club figures to make multiple moves at the position this offseason. The Patriots currently have three established receivers -- Amendola, Brandon Lloyd and Jones -- under contract for 2013.
Steelers restricted free agent Emmanuel Sanders is also visiting Patriots on Friday, sources told ESPN. Sanders, who entered the NFL as a third-round draft choice of the Steelers in 2010 out of Southern Methodist, was tendered an offer worth $1.3 million by Pittsburgh. If the Patriots sign Sanders to an offer sheet, the Steelers could match it and retain him. If the Steelers don't match a potential Patriots offer, they would receive a third-round draft choice from New England.
some Visits to Beantown from UFAs today
Dwight Freeney set to visit New England Patriots
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported that Freeney will visit the Patriots on Friday. Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet New England first had the report (Indianapolis Colts fans might want to stop reading now).
Freeney will have company in Foxborough. We've already noted via Rapoport and NFL.com's Albert Breer that former Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson and former Atlanta Falcons defensive end John Abraham also will be visiting. The Patriots have signed former St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola and return man Leon Washington in free agency thus far, and now appear to be turning their attention to the defense.
Brandon Lloyd talks contract restructure as well.
Patriots receiver Brandon Lloyd is due a $3 million roster bonus by the weekend, and the expectation has been that the club will not pick it up. But that doesn't necessarily mean that Lloyd won't be back with the team, as the sides have entered into talks on a restructured contract, sources have told ESPN.

Ed Reed is leaving Houston without a contract. Still shopping around apparently.
@NFL_ATL: "Our folks at @nflnetwork tell us Ed Reed left the building in Houston w/o a deal. Nothing expected today."

Elvis Dumervil released because his agent didn't fax the contract in time. Crazy.

Will be interesting to see if Dumervil will test the market a bit or just sign that same contract with Denver anyway.

Dumervil is probably gone now, the cap implications to bring him back will be bad, unless he takes a way, way below market deal. I think I can see New England signing him almost right away.

That article has changed now.
@walterfootball
"@greggrosenthal Dumervil release creates $4.87M in dead money per @MaseDenver" Ouch. Will be tough to re-sign him
@evansilva
Costly error. RT @adbrandt Dumervil, if cut, will not be resigned, makes no sense. Team will take a big hit on dead money upon release.

Yup, to sign him back at $8million per it'll cost the Broncos that, and another $4.9 million in cap space, for a cap hit of $12.9 million. Dumervil is gone unless he feels extreme loyalty to the Broncos and takes a $4 million/year deal.

Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington Team hadn't received signed contract via fax at 1:59 p.m. If Broncos didn't waive Elvis, they had to pay original $12 million, source says.
Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington Want to see how inexcusable it is to need 35 minutes to fax a contract? 1...2...3... http://twitpic.com/cbmkc9
Looks like Dumervil is in need of a new agent.

I guess that depends on how much Dumervil gets from his new team. There is some speculation that they were slow with the paperwork on purpose with hopes of getting the 12 mil he was due from Denver.

Has played both pretty well if I'm not mistaken. He'd be an OLB in a 3-4 or a DE in a 4-3.

Damn, if the Colts hadn't given Erik Whalden 4 mil Indy would be a perfect fit.
