How have the Flames been one of the healthiest teams in the leage? They've had some pretty significant injuries so far and are now fully healthy for the first time since the start of this season.

EDIT: Not most healthiest, just healthiest!

This team hasn't won more than 2 games in a row all year. Yet somehow people think we're gonna go on some 7 game tear, and maybe even get into 1st, because we beat a mediocre Red Wings squad with a terrible goalie? Jesus Jones.

The win was a trap, people. It's always a trap. They might win the next one or the next two, but that will be a trap too!

I'll enjoy it. Having hope is what makes sports fun, if they're playing for nothing why would I watch?

For man games lost from guys that are currently good enough to make the roster they have lost 25 man games. Even if you include Bouma and Sven they have only lost 60 man games.

The Flyers for instance (not including Pronger or Leighton) have lost 70 games to injury. Most teams will have lost more.

I hate being a team that everyone plays their backup goalies against

Because you are a fan of the team. Do you still watch the games after they are mathematically eleminated? I do, and still hope they win even though it could cost them draft spots.

Why do we always have to hope? Hope is for losers. Why can't we have a little patience, an actual plan.... and turn that hope into actual, long-term results?

Yeah, it's great to see your team win in the moment, but at some point, I'd like to cheer for a frickin' team that wins more than 3 playoff rounds in 23 years.

No, not unless they're playing the oilers or vancouver.

Hope is fun. HOckey is just like a movie for me. If its not fun its not entertaining and hence why would I watch it?

Legitimate Playoff fun >>>>>> Mediocrity fun.

Who do you think is having more fun right now, Pens, Hawks, Ducks fans...or us?

I don't understand why it matters to anyone if I want to get my hopes up after a win. The only person that will be disappointed when they fail again is me.

This is exactly the point. 9th place and 15th place result in the exact same thing, absolutely no chance to make noise in the playoffs. The fact that this team is unlikely to even hit the lofty heights of 9th place is all the more reason to develop an actual plan.

So far this year the Flames have 10 wins in 25 games. The teams they have actually beaten are the following:

1) Edmonton Oilers - started their starter Dubnyk
2) Detroit Red Wings - started their starter Howard
3) Columbus Blue Jackets - started their starter Bobrovsky
4) Dallas Stars - started their backup Backman
5) Dallas Stars - started their backup Backman
6) Minnesota Wild - started their starter Backstrom
7) Phoenix Coyotes - started their starter Smith
8) Vancouver Canucks - started Luongo
9) San Jose Sharks - started their backup Greiss
10) Detroit Red Wings - started their backup Gustaffson

Flames have beat 4 backups in their 10 victories. That in and of itself should be scary to Flames fans.

I don't care if you personally get your hopes up, but this is exactly the attitude the Flames management/owners take every year. Hanging onto a tiny thread of hope and it resulting in more losing.

I've been "hoping" for a good 5 years now too. Time to try something different.

I was talking with a co-worker about the standings last night and how we were 3rd last. I feel there is less than a 10% chance this team ends up with a top 5 pick. They're going to go on a run at some point. I just hope the charlatanism doesn't handcuff Feaster et all at the deadline.

I predict it happens when the season is over and we finish with an 8th or 9th pick.

As far as the game last night, it's still fun beating Detroit, even if this Detroit is a shade of its former self.

I am pretty sure there is not a fan who cares what other fans think, the disturbing thing is that Flames management and ownership think like fans too, constantly looking at situations that are damn near mathematically impossible and saying "Hey, that could happen". I just hope this year they take off their fan goggles.
