Newsflash, we already are.
Burke would be a MASSIVE improvement over Feaster/King because he actually has lengthy experience in the league and has been successful in knowing how to draft and make deals to build competitive hockey teams. We need someone that understands a roadmap, and how to execute it. Otherwise we'll be like the Oilers for years to come.

Why? I don't know too much about him, but the fact he stuck with one team for so long speaks volume.

Francois Beauchemin trade? Huge win.
Dion Phaneuf trade? Massive win.
Hell the man even got a 2nd out of us for dumping Primeau on the leafs.
Look at his draft history...
Chris Pronger
Manny Legace
Bryan Allen
Jarkko Ruutu
Daniel Sedin
Henrik Sedin
RJ Umberger
Kevin Bieksa
Ryan Kesler
Bobby Ryan
Matt Beleskey
Jake Gardiner
Justin Schultz
Nazem Kadri
Morgan Rielly
That is an impressive list of talent no matter how you slice it. Sure he has had his misses like everyone else, but not many GM's can match his resume.

i'm with you, burke got a bit of a bum rap here in Toronto and, besides keeping wilson on as coach too long, did a wonderful job...especially stockpiling good assets...
would be happy with him and/or davidson involved with this team.

For all his buffoonery and arrogance, three teams that are doing quite well at the moment owe a lot to Brian Burke. I'd certainly take that over whatever the hell is going on in Calgary under KK and Feaster.

That is a really good list. In the however many years Feaster has been GM, he's only drafted 1 NHL player. 4 if you include Horak, Blair Jones and Sven (but all are in the AHL)

Burke would be worth it to transition the organization beyond the iginla years while get.ting maximum value in trades for our currently valuable veterans.

Why would you include horak, he was acquired via trade?

Didn't Feaster draft a bunch of players for the lightning too? I mean it was a no brainer, but he did draft Stamkos

None are currently in the NHL except for Stamkos.

Stamkos is pretty amazing though..... I'm not saying I want Feaster anywhere near the Flames any more. And I'm kind of surprised he didn't move the first pick he used on Stamkos.
I don't like Feaster

Burke should be given the keys to the Flames. President, GM, the whole nine. Fire Hartley and bring in Ruff. Time is ticking away and this seems like a no brainer.

the only solace i have is that in Tampa Feaster listened to the wrong guys at the draft table and in Calgary Weisbrod/Conroy are putting together our draft lists, not him.

If Burke gets the President job I think he takes the GM gig but if he didn't I want Weisbroad to get consideration

What is the problem with Ken King? His job is to make sure the Flames turn a profit and he has done a good job of that. He is the guy that make the bids for World Junior Championships, Heritage Classics, Briars and Grey Cups etc. and since he took charge, Calgary has had more than their fair share of extra events. The way the Flames have been run since Ken King came aboard is a 180 from the way Ron Bremner ran the team.
This team needs a GM. Not a president. (or at least a president who can hire the right GM) All in all, Ken King has done a great job and he should be the guy who takes us into the new building. If he wants to.

Burke's come in to clean up messy organizations in Vancouver and Toronto. In both cases he seems to have set both up well while having limited success during the actual rebuild.
Jury's still out on Toronto but the pieces he acquired seem to be paying off.
