He hasn't been near good enough, bottom line.

Is it not possible to watch game tape with Conroy? Or Hartley? Or anyone?
This idea of "getting a fresh perspective" by sitting out a game seems like a cliche from the 70s and 80s that has carried to today in spite of advances in technology.

I was pretty choked when there were rumors of him sitting last time. There were other forwards in the top 9 playing worse then he was. But I can't disagree this time. All of the other forwards are more deserving of a roster spot and putting Sven on the 4-line makes no sense.
If Comeau falters expect Baertschi to slot in tomorrow. Otherwise he will probably get sent down.

I remember when Lydman was here, he sat for a couple of days in a row. He came back and was a day-to-day NHL'er after that. He said he had never been a healthy scratch before and it gave him a perspective of the game he never had before. So different things help different players, it's not all one solution.

Hartley probably recognizes Sven gets pushed off the puck easy. The Ducks would surely abuse that.

I hope Sven asks to be traded.
Any other team in this league and he would be playing top 6 along side decent players, getting decent icetime.

Are you really trying to say that Sven would be top 6 on every team in the NHL? Pretty high expectations if you ask me. And hoping he asks for a trade makes me wonder if you are related or something.....just ridiculous!

The Oilers maybe? He isn't ready physically. No one is denying his ability but he is getting pushed around and I don't think the Flames should risk another injury.

Well I hope you are right then
I didn't think my replies were considered meltdown... oh well.

Cervenka has come back strong after spending a couple of games on the bench so I'm okay with tonight but if this is going to become a regular thing then send the kid down and let him play. I will say that a game like tonight was a game that they could have used another skilled player as the team needed someone to break the ice and get that first goal.

When you consider one of our greatest weaknesses tonight was the inability to finish, having someone like Sven out there may have made the difference.

Just to clarify, I didn't mean to imply that you were having a meltdown, just that you were kind of alone in your objection to this decision.

Short term gain, long term pain. So frustrated. Management doesnt get it, coaches dont get it, most fans on CPF dont get it. You dont develop players from the press box. This is insanity. Lets ruin another one, at what point is it not the scouts fault anymore?

Can't disagree with any of it. In retrospect some extra skill might have been what we needed tonight but we'll never know.
If his sitting becomes a regular occurrence he should be sent down, plain and simple.

I actually laughed at this.
Sven is a rookie playing at an entry level deal. Any other team in this league he would be playing top 6 in the AHL. He's not Sidney Crosby, bro.
