Yup. Not to mention that Hartley also really likes him. Hartley weeks ago said something to the effect that he wished more players played like him.
B sutter liked him also.

I would say that Comeau re-signing is a very high probability. The only way i don't see him in a flames uniform next season is if Feaster and Hartely are gone, or he wants to try another team that thinks he can play top 9 all season.

True, Feaster did try fro two years but it was smart of Comeau to only do the one year as he wanted to prove to himself and everybody else that his 20+ goal season was not a fluke.

20 games thus far and just scored his first goal, three points and is a -4. If he can somehow get back to where he was when he scored 20+ goals with the Isles I can see Feaster re-signing him althrough he seems to be used more defensively now which may have an impact on him coming back.

Not that this really matters all that much nowadays, but Comeau has played more NHL games than Jones has, while Jones has spent most of his career down in the minors.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though while I wouldn't be surprised if Feaster resigns him IMO it's 50/50 as Jackman has another year on his deal, Bouma will be back and the team will likely want to keep Sven full time as well. I think Stempniak and Cervenka will be higher priority to keep.

My bet is Jackman is traded for a 7th or waived. Bouma in for sure.Cervenka will have to really get his offence going to be considered re-signed status. I like him, but he has to be the softest player i have ever seen. Flames need to get bigger and tougher in the top 9.

Granted all of that could be out the window if they go rebuild and trade off some top 6 players.

I would like to see Cervenka gone. I think he fits a mold of a particular team, but it's not the Flames. Seems like a guy you would see on Washington or Florida. That said, we can't afford to lose talented centers as we are running thin already.

I'm scratching my head on this one. Oh yeah, I hope Blair Jones comes back up.

We need heart and soul players like Jones, who I honestly believe should have stayed up, not to mention he had a great faceoff draw, something the team was missing. I just don't see Cervenka battling in the corners, throwing his body around or giving 110%. He is a soft guy. Do the Flames need that right now? I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

I just see an uninspired European import. Maybe I'm not giving him enough credit, or maybe I don't realize how much the Sutter era brainwashed me to value grit over skill.

Or maybe you're not taking into account the guy is just coming off injury/illness and is experiencing culture shock having moved to North America where he's unfamiliar with the language and learning the style of play here among the best hockey players on earth.

All of that considered... he's done very well and is bringing all kinds of skill and creativity.

Some really odd comments from you, especially considering you're touting Jones as a heart and soul guy when every indication was he was sent down for something to do with an attitude problem.

Glad you're not making roster decisions.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Fair enough. I would take a heart/soul guy any day of the week. I believe Jones has more of it than Cervenka.

Again, every indication is he's down in the minors because of his attitude. That, and he was the most frequent diver while on our roster.

Aside from the obvious gap in actual talent between the two... that's heart and soul to you?

Looked great while he was up on the big team, played his role well.

Jury is still out on Cervenka, but I think Backlund playing great hockey really lessens the need for Cervenka down the middle. He's not a #1 guy, but he needs to be higher than #3 IMO since he is a slick playmaker. Tanguay is as good as we have for a #1 center for now.

Calgary still needs their elusive #1 center though.

Crazy, I'll take Cervenka any day. I like Jones but the Flames had "heart and soul" guys forever we need a mix of skill to go with it. Jones is good, but easily replaced, guys with playmaking abilities aren't.

Cervenka may not go battle hard in the corners which is why you would put him with a decent gritty player.

heart and soul! we are talking about Blair Jones here right...guy who just got passed up by 30 teams. I couldn't disagree with you more, Jones doesn't even belong in the NHL.

The scary thing is, him getting a 2 year contract is very possible.

I'll start off by saying that i don't care if Jones is on the team next year. Also Jones is a 4th line player while Cervenka is a top 6-9 player, so they are not competing for a future roster spot against each other.

I like Cervenka but like i said before he is the softest player i have ever seen. The only way i see him on this team next year is if they rebuild. If they keep Iggy, Tangs is more than likely staying. Glencross is staying because he has a little grit. Flames can not afford to get rid of grit, they need to add to that. Stempniak has been one of the few players that give it every night. Not sure why you would get rid of him, same could be said for Stajan. Backlund is RFA and more than likely will be re-signed. I presume they would like to give Sven more oportunity on the top 6 next year. If they are keeping most, if not all those players i mentioned, plus Hudler, how are they going to get tougher in the top 9? Cervenka would probably be first on the list to be replaced for added grit and toughness. Also you have to think that the flames would pick up at least a 2b/3a center in the ufa department.

Again that's if they don't rebuild. If they rebuild and ship out a couple of players like Iggy, Tangs and Cammi there should be a spot on this team for Cervenka.

Dropping Cervenka in favour of adding Blair Jones is one of the worst ideas I've seen on Calgarypuck in a long time.

Blair Jones has 5 career goals in over 100 games
Cervenka has 3 in 17

You might want to point that out to Ozy_Flame. That's the only reason the two were even being discussed.

You've dodged the question twice now, so I'll present it a 3rd time straight up:

It's been widely speculated Jones was demoted because of his attitude. He also is our most Canuck like player in that he dives and embellishes.

Those two traits to you make for a heart and soul player?

This is really irking you, isn't it?

How many times has Jones dived this season? Do you have stats?
