I like Hamrlik when he was on the Flames. Obviously, he is old now, but I wish him well.
It's surprising how much cap room the rangers actually have.

Not really. Only their top end guys are paid big bucks. Their depth players aren't getting $2-4M... that makes a big difference. If our healthy scratch team were making <$1M, we would have an extra $5M cap room.

As tweeted by Andrew Walker earlier, after the first 20 games, the Flames are off to their best start in 3 years.
Also of note as mentioned in this thread was that the Flames were missing #34 for 13 of those games.
For comparison, here's he breakdown after 20...
2010-11 - 8W - 11L - 1T = 17 pts
2011-12 - 8W - 11L - 1T = 17 pts
2012-13 - 8W - 8L - 4T = 20 pts

So? Just because they're off to a moderately (but still mediocre) start doesn't mean they'll finish as well.
We're on pace for 82 points (or 48 in a shortened season) and we got around 90 points/season when Sutter was around - that's all that matters.

The Flames were on pace for 68 points the last 2 seasosn under Brent.
Point being 20 games is a small sample size. Brent had 240+ games to show he wasn't the guy to lead this team anywhere. Hartley is still a work in progress with a slightly better start despite facing a larger hurdle losing the franchise goaltender for the majority of the first 20.

Hartley has also lost training camp, which is invaluable when you have a handful of new faces on the team.
He's also lost a top 3 centre in Backlund, and what was supposed to be a top 2 Centre in Cervenka, who is more comfortable on the wing now.
I'd say Hartley has been doing a fine job with what has been put in front of him, unfortunately he doesn't have the luxury of a slow start like Sutter did, seeing as the first 20 is nearly half a season, rather than a quarter. Pace definitely needs to be picked up, or Feaster may actually have to learn how to be a GM come deadline.

Yeah, Hartley hasn't even had a chance yet. Way too early to judge.

Indeed, where we finish is all that matters. But we haven't finished anywhere yet under Hartley, so too soon to say much.

Funny coming from you in a conversation involving Butler.
Im convinced your love for Babchuk stems only from Sutter's refusal to play him last year

Not really. I just think he is a better dman than Butler. and history shows it.
Besides with our pp bogging down again, it will be perfect to throw him out there on the pp.

the thing I always loved about Hamrlik is how he always slammed the door when he went to the penalty box.
