It is a body modification. Like a tattoo, or ear/nose/eyebrow/nipple ring.
Some people have different visions of how they want to appear/look.
What does it matter why they get it done.
Maybe Nik wants a smooth wrinkle sack. who are we to judge?

it's for my hairy butt!
No but really, I have some areas I'd like not to be hairy, and was hoping for a CP recommendation. I'm glad you're all super alpha peter12, but I wasn't really looking for your life outlook.

I'm a pretty hairy dude and if I don't 'manscape' I get itchy in a shirt, rashes from sports and face it hair gets stinky.
Clippers are good enough for me but some people prefer laser treatment. Also it's fine and dandy to say 'have some self confidence' but when you aren't in the same boat does your opinion really hold value??

Hey, just to be clear. I am extremely, extremely hairy. Definitely in the top 1% of hairy men. Almost to the point of hairy parody.

I still don't understand your confusion though. Is 'manscaping' with clippers ok? Just not the permanent method?

I don't know. I'm just cool with it. It used to bother me when I was younger, but now, not so much. I do have generally attractive features, and I am tall so maybe that makes up for it. I don't mean that in a ####ty way. Everyone has things that they would like to change, and obviously, I do too. Hair was just one of those unchangeable things. It's not something you can improve, like weight or muscle tone. The effort that one has to go to remove hair is lengthy, painful, and almost always ineffective.
I say, let the back hair ruffle in the breeze.

I look at it this way. My wife has the common courtesy to reduce her bush, I should extend the same common courtesy. It is just polite.

Are we talking about the old down-under? Then, yes, probably good to reduce down there. I am more talking about overall geographic hairiness.

there's few things that are more annoying or surprisingly painful than getting a stomach hair caught in the buckle of your reversible belt. that alone is motivation enough for doing the yardwork. I don't need things baby smooth, but spending maybe 20 minutes every few months to make sure there aren't a lot of long scragglers is really worth the effort.

It's better than shaving the back of your neck every few days?
If you're under 30, you might not have to deal with this, but I can't wear a t-shirt anymore without a pre-shave. And I don't care how "comfortable" I am with it, everyone else finds it gross, especially women.
I decided against a laser clinic, mostly due to cost. From what I'm told you have to go back for many treatments. If people really are seeing success from 1 treatment, they are damn lucky. The lighter your skin is and the darker your hair is, the more effective your treatmetns will be. I have olive skin and dirty blond hair, so a bad combo.
My girlfriend has one of these:
http://www.silkn.com/About-Silkn-SensEpil
I bought new cartridges for it for $35. The treatments to my neck/shoulder region end up costing me about $1 each, as the cartridges last for 400 or so zaps. After 10 or so treatments, the hair probably reduced by 30% or so. It's a longer, but much cheaper process. Less time consuming overall as I don't have to leave my house and go into a spa. Also, I don't have to go into a spa.

Haha, does this actually work? I guess I am sort of interested in this hair removal business now.

I'm a male and have never had laser treatments, but I do manscape. It's not so that I can have sex more often and I don't lack in confidence. It's because I hate body hair. I don't get the point of it and wish I was completely hairless except on top of my head.
Hair is gross. It holds sweat, which in turn holds body odour. It serves no purpose. I would be much happier if I didn't have a hairy ass. Imagine never having to deal with another clingon. I don't remove my hair for anyone but myself. I even think you would have to be more confident to walk around hairless, if everyone else has a sweater.
