There have been some pretty good moves but the the wheels are falling off this season much like how things unravelled with Darryl Sutter over the past 12 months of his tenure as Flames GM. Make no mistake that the owners 'win now' mantra puts extreme pressure on a GM to make chicken salad out of chicken (you know what). We saw the desperate moves by Darryl and we are now seeing them from Jay. This isn't all on the GM.

I'm still dying to know the contents of the plan Feaster gave to ownership in attempt to get the interim label removed.

So, then should the Fans stop caring? This team was going to be moving if it wasn't for the fans. The owners need to stop worrying about finances and give the fans something to cheer about and a direction to look forward to.

You also forgot to mention claiming MacDonald off of waivers, and I have no idea what you mean by "sort of" with regards to signing Wideman. Did he, or did he not trade for Wideman's rights and then sign him to a contract?
|
He was never a UFA. He was essentially a UFA signing though. I will add MacDonald.

My guess is it was something along the lines of "Yes sir, whatever you say sir, great idea sir, your wish is my command sir."

Of course not. Most of us endured the 90's and we will endure this lowpoint as well. It just sucks because unlike the 90's most of this is self-inflicted by ownership.

Not hard to think it was... Re-tool with a re-signed Iggy.
Ownership did not want to do other interviews because they did not want to be told by applicants that they needed to rebuild.

That's sad to think about.
Maybe that's why they didn't really interview for the coaching position either.

He is a buffoon who is making the franchise look even stupider than ever. I thought Al Coates and his dufus squad was incompetent but looks like this is new standard for dumb.

How about 3 trade deadlines in a row without selling a single asset while we fail to make the playoffs, fail to trade any upcoming FA's, re-sign them to useless contracts and sit them in the press box. It's about to be 4 in a row.

One comment he made that really annoyed me was the "Broken down Modin" one.
Sure, Modin was on his very last legs. But this is a player you traded for, and one that is a triple-crown winner. He deserved more respect than being spoken about in that way.
Also, wasn't it at some season ticket holder lunch where him and King made fun of Darryl for being a lousy GM?

Feaster, and all management above him that provide the direction of the team are becoming the emperor with no clothes more and more each day.
It's been a frustrating 4+ years as a Flames fan that recognizes the team needs a drastic overhaul but knows it won't happen.

Without a doubt the whole "Fool me once" speech he gave the night before the trade deadline and then proceeded to do nothing.

Contracts to Coma, Babchuk, and since they really don't play him Sarich.
Why offer 2 more years to Babchuk and Sarich when the team has no real plans for either of them and its not like they are close to league min contracts.
But i firmly do not believe Feaster acted alone creating and approving these deals.

You sign them so it doesn't look bad that they are leaving for nothing.

Perception issues:
Fool me once and Intellectual Honesty are probably the biggest foot in the mouth moments for him
Operationally:
This O'Reilly waivers disaster near miss
Trying to give Comeau two years
Richards near miss
Babchuk
Regehr trade
Wideman's contract term.
Potential issues in the future:
Pretty sure we'll be cursing the Terrvainen / Jankowski pick in the future. Really hope I'm wrong.
The guy's drafting and trading history is awful, he was the wrong choice to be Darryl's second, he was the wrong choice to just grandfather into the GM chair, and I'm sure they'll make the wrong choice now.

All I'm saying is sure, maybe he's said some stupid things along the way, but it's not like the guy is Mike Millbury II or something.

Your right, after this offer sheet debacle I would suggest he may be worse....

I’m getting a little sour. How many teams . . . every year, for the last 10 years, five years, eight years, have finished in the bottom five, bottom seven, bottom 10? They’ve had a pick anywhere from No. 1 to No. 10 year after year after year after year, and they still wander in the desert. And they’re no closer to getting out than they were 10 years ago. You know what? I look forward to the Battle of Alberta for the next X number of years. If the idea is, ‘Burn it to the ground,’ then Ken can find another manager to do it.”

I don't get why this one is in the list. He hasn't been wrong on this to date.
