I'm in victoria, but I find my speeds are always about the same constant 24mbps, even seen it at 26-27. If you are watching 3 HD feeds that'll knock about 5-6 mbps off your internet speed.

Shaw always recorded the whole game, with OT and a SO, without having to fool with the extended settings. Not extremely hard to hit that extend by 30 minutes setting, but it doesn't bode well for Telus when they set their schedule for 2.5 hours for a hockey game.
Watching 1 HD channel and clocking speedtest I got 14 down (should be getting 25).
Wired it's about 18.
EDIT: How the hell do you create multiple email accounts?

It's going to be a long and disappointing three years.

FWIW, yesterday, the Flames game recording on Shaw cut out early as well. Luckily I was live by then, but I had to switch to the live feed as the recording had finished.
Normally I do the extra time settings, but yesterday I didn't bother, since I was rushed and like you it almost never comes into play.

Don't worry...you didn't miss anything in the game anyway...unless you are a Wild fan.

I'm with Shaw right now and they only schedule 2.5 hours for the game and if I don't hit the "record with extended time" pop up it will only record 2.5 hours.

Strange. They may have made a mistake yesterday, or have changed it, because the only time I had ever bothered with the extended time setting was for playoff games/international games. Otherwise the guide had scheduled for more than enough time for a single game w/ OT & SO.
And, as if it were some kind of anti-Cinderella, at the stroke of midnight all of my theme packs were adjusted properly and Center Ice was available. Perhaps I was a bit hasty, but I will keep monitoring my Internet speed.
Question: To create a separate email account with Telus, do I create a new Mailbox or an Alias? I want 2-3 totally distinct addresses, and my contract says I can have up to 10 email addys. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone walk me through how to set up my own Wireless router (Linksys GL) with the Actiontec V1000H. I have contacted 4 Telus techs, none of which have been able to help and my Wifi it just god awful upstairs as the Actiontec is in the basement.
On my Linksys GL I am running Tomato Firmware as well. If someone can please PM me or help me out that would be great, cause I have not had any luck. I want to completely disable the Actiontec Wifi and route my computer through the Linksys via Lan and use the Linksys for the WIFI for the house.

the funny thing is it has nothing to do with shaw or telus for how much a program is scheduled for, it's all based what the channel that is playing the game sets on it's own. Shaw doesn't create the rogers sportsnet guide, telus doesn't .. this is just a case of you wanting to blame telus and shaw being oh so great.
Shaw and telus do not set the time slots for programs on channels, if it's 2.5 hours on telus, it's 2.5 hours on shaw, has absolutely nothing to do with providers/pvr's etc

You have to log into the actiontec ( http://192.168.1.254)
username is admin
password is telus ( i think, or could be the serial number of the modem)
Then click on wireless and disable from there.
Plug your linksys router into one of the open ports on the actiontec and put the linksys in bridge mode. Should be good.

I wasn't implying superiority of one brand over another. Just simply relaying personal experience.
Thanks for the information. I never made a straight-up comparison of schedule guides and simply assumed the differing experiences were a result of provider provisions.
Seems like you may have taken this a little personal...

I upgraded from 25 mbps to the 50 mbps plan. had a tech come out on friday, set it up and what not. hardwired i got download speeds of around 49 mbps, but upstairs through the wireless, i get 2 bars of signal and speeds of around 15 mbps apparently due to disturbances in the signal (which is slower than what i was getting at 25 (mbps). they had another tech come out (a signal guy) who tried changing channels and tested the signals, and then turned WPS off. still no better d/l speeds, he's going to call back on monday after conferring with another techie. Can anyone offer any advice, ( i figure it's like taking your car to the mechanic, the more you know the less likely they'll be able to rip you off). The first techie was happy to leave it like that, and it was only my insistence that made him call the signal guy. There's no phone jack/cold air intake in the upstairs study, so this is preventing a hardwire to solve that problem.

I assume the signal tech tried his own/a different laptop/ipad and got the same results to rule out your device as the issue?

How close to your electrical panel is the Telus equipment? An electrical panel will cause a large amount of interference.

They're side by side, which may explain why i only get good reception in the basement. maybe i should get the modem/router moved?

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it and what kind? was it easy to setup? how are you're speeds upstairs?
i read in another forum, that there is an actiontech v.2000 model out there, would that make a difference?
