I always hear about how different some of these scores would be if they were wearing pads. Wouldn't it make sense to do a few of these skills in pads? It isn't like they would be having any contact but if the slight added weight and constriction of pads can make a difference, why not?

That being said, I think the actual physical events are secondary to the meetings and face to face interviews that occur.

Richard Sherman has quickly become one of the most obnoxious players in the league.

NFL is proposing to overhaul its calendar, pushing back the combine to early March, free agency to early April, and the draft to early May.

Want to know one more reason why NFL wants the draft in early May? TV sweeps are in May. Bigger ratings, bigger dollars.
Quote:
Idea of overhauled calendar is to lengthen NFL off-season and make football relevant over longer period with one big event each month.

Under proposal, all NFL teams also would kick off training camp on same summer day, making it the official launch of the football season.

Like the NFL isn't relevant 24/7/365 already.

More un-surprising news out of Philly:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/89...leased-sources

Quote:
The Philadelphia Eagles will ask cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to restructure his contract or they will release him, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The two sides are meeting Friday in Indianapolis at the scouting combine. Asomugha, 31, is scheduled to make $15 million, $4 million of which is guaranteed.
I'd rather they just release him outright, but they'd be really thin at DB if they did. I'm wondering if he could make the switch to safety and help out there.

Joe Flacco's agent Joe Linta and Ravens are scheduled to meet today regarding a new contract. Both sides want this deal done by March 4.
https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/sta...51622973788161

Would I be shocked if they got a deal done before the end of the weekend or within the next few days? Nope, Steve Bisciotti said at the Ravens end-of-season press conference that they offered Joe Flacco a top 5 contract last summer and were close. Joe Flacco asked for more money, the brass said if you want more money go prove it.

Draft is two months away with free agency yet to happen. I wouldn't believe this at all.

Mike Mayock is pretty convinced that the Chiefs should be going offensive line with their top pick as Joeckel. He thinks Chance Wormack from Bama is the best player in the draft. Chiefs do have three pretty key free agents in Albert, Bowe, and Colquitt. I don't think I would franchise Bowe again, Albert is a good tackle, but he's not an all pro, so I don't think he's worth a franchise tag. So maybe Mayock is right. Take the tackle, let Bowe and Albert go, than try to get Alex Smith for a 4th, and draft a WR in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Perhaps the Cardinals can roll the dice and give the Ravens two firsts for Flacco if the Ravens non-exclusive tag him, which is apparently what they are leaning to. Smart call if true, if someone wants to give up two first round picks, especially when they mean a lot more than they used to with the rookie cap in place, and it also avoids you paying Flacco $20 million a season, then you gotta do it. Aaron Rodgers is pulling for Flacco though, if Flacco is worth $20 million than Rodgers has to be worth at least $30 million.

And this is where I hope the Ravens don't cave to Flacco and give him $20 million. Quarterbacks are just becoming too big a part of the cap equation. Is Joe Flacco really worth 1/6 of the Ravens entire cap space? I really don't think so. Joe is in the top 8-12 QBs in the league, but that means he should be in the $12-15 million dollar range. The Ravens should be happy with the thought of two more first round picks. With those you can send a second rounder to San Francisco for Alex Smith and still be a contender but with much bigger assets going forward and more cap relief in the future (Smith only has two years left at $8 million per).

You win the SB, you are automatically an elite QB and will be paid as such...just the way the league is.

Flacco will get a bunch of money from the Ravens......and rightfully so.

They could just release him and draft Dee Milliner.

Your source of the non-exclusive tag came from one of the biggest rag websites on the internet and a ###### who should have his teeth punched in. I'm talking about Mike Florio. Pro Football Rag or that tool named Mike Florio is not a good source of NFL related news if they are using their own sources which they did to report the non-exclusive tag story.

Just as I was typing that someone who has credible sources in Ian Rapport said Joe Linta and the Ravens brass have been "plugging away" over the past week and have spent 8 hours meetings trying to get a deal done. He also said, so far, so good. Both sides want a new deal done done by March 4th.

Joe Linta is the one asking for $20 million for a year, remember reading/hearing somewhere Joe Flacco said he was willing to take a little less money to help keep some of his teammates around. In the end I think Joe Flacco gets paid what he reportedly asked for last summer which was $17-18 million a year.

All I can do is laugh at your Arizona and Alex Smith stuff. In the end its gonna to be funny as hell to see you whine like an idiot when he receives a contract that likely exceeds $100 million.

Dude if the Ravens want to give Flacco Drew Brees type money when he plays closer to Alex Smith and thus put the Ravens in the hole against the cap, by all means go for it. Put Joe Flacco on the Saints and they're picking top-5 every year. Give Drew Brees a defense ranked in the 24-28 range and they're a legit Super Bowl threat. My bigger point was and I think the same for Brees and any of them, is it's hard to say you're about winning and the team when you as 1/53 of the team take up 1/6 of the cap. Flacco has all the leverage, he can basically demand $20+ million a year because someone like Arizona or Buffalo or Cleveland will pay the two first and the $20 million per. And if you're Baltimore and someone wants to do that, especially any of those three teams where it makes it likely it could be at least one top 10 pick, you smile and say thanks for everything Joe.

The Chiefs are apparently talking a trade with Philly for Foles. Eagles likely won't let him go for less than a second.

Everywhere I go in Indianapolis, I hear someone say that the Alex Smith-to-Kansas City Chiefs deal is all but done. (Now CBS is reporting a deal is "effectively done" for Smith, but won't name the team.) Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said it's "not us" who has a deal in place in a text to the Florida Times-Union. NFL.com's Albert Breer reported a high-ranking San Francisco 49ers source says he's not aware of a deal being done. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport says the Chiefs have showed the most interest. Mr. RapSheet also hears the Chiefs are particularly high on tackle Luke Joeckel as a No. 1 overall pick candidate.

I don't like Milliner at 4. If Joeckel goes first overall, then I'm hoping the Eagles trade back. I'd consider Warmack at 4, but I think that's too high for a guard.

I think moon will be happy if the Eagles don't take him at 4 (assuming the Lions take him next) but I think they do.
