2 points out of 8th seed. Just a fun fact.

If you just want the team to draft well, wouldn't it be easier for you to switch it off for a season?

I hope you have to get grumpy so many more times this season when the flames win. This is a PGT thread for a victory, take these comments elsewhere.

I actually can't believe what just happened. That was incredibly an entertaining hockey game between two teams that never do anything interesting playing one another. Just a glorious win and I honestly gave them zero chance once they went down 4-3 but give them credit for fighting hard the last few minutes and surprisingly Phoenix with a bunch of breakdowns and Smith was way way off his game.

Thrilled with the win but the way they came out in the third and were totally dominated by that team is simply unacceptable. Phoenix was thoroughly outworking and outplaying Calgary for the first 15 minutes of the period where the Flames basically never touched the puck.

Lots of credit to Iginla who has been playing well for 3-4 games and finally gets some reward.

Thought Cammalleri played very well though I just cannot believe he and Comeau are both playing center for this team.

Through 40 minutes I was really impressed with how good the Flames were defensively but they totally collapsed in the third period. MacDonald deserves a ton of credit because the Flames did zero in the defensive zone even after it was 4-3, but he came up huge on several great opportunities.

The Flames are almost back to full strength offensively so they are scoring goals which is great. Iginla is getting going which is obviously key. If the GM would actually do his job and find NHL centers this team could be pretty decent. Not sure how that will happen but I am in total amazement how he hasn't done anything yet while two wingers take regular shifts at center. I keep saying it over and over again but my shock is not wearing off.

I said it last night after the win but it is something to be optimistic about that these guys are 7-7-3 despite having very few contributions from their two best players. If they can actually put everything together and stay healthy, they will at least contend for a playoff spot.

Roller-coaster really. Very glad Glencross got that last one, hope he doesn't go home thinking he had a great game but just enough confidence to get rid of that monkey that's been on his back.

So what's the deal with Cervenka? He's not a fourth line player, and he's being wasted playing 3 minutes a night. Is it health/conditioning or just Hartley's dog house? If this is Hartley's plan with Cervenka, I'm not really seeing any reason to have him draw in over someone like Jones, although I really hope this isn't the plan...

I've been able to handle the Comeau stuff knowing that he's more or less keeping Backlund's seat warm, but I really hope Hartley let's Baertschi play some more, I don't see a reason not to give him some PP in a game like this when the PP wasn't working for long stretches.

You should find a different hobby.

What a game! That second period was brutal... the Flames deserved much better, I'm glad things turned out for them.

Hopefully this means that Iggy has the monkey off his back and can go on one of his tears. No matter what you hope for this team (other than those who want to finish last I guess) an Iginla who is scoring is good for the franchise, trade or not.

I still want to see Baertschi without Comeau the play-ender (good PKer though). If Kipper comes back strong, I'm curious to see if they still allow so many goals.

Begin and Jackman both only played 9 seconds in third. Cervenka 58 seconds.

Iggy, Cammy, Jackman and Glencross score.

That's the kind of thing we need to be seeing more regularly.

Iggy's the man!

GlenX was S-faced most of the game, but finally redeemed himself back to being GlenX with the winning goal.

Most entertaining Coyotes game I've ever seen that's 4 sure!

Great to grind out a couple of wins. Wasn't pretty but the results matter. The team really needs another centre though.

Stajan and Jordano were the best players for Calgary tonight.

Feaster will look like a genius with this Joey MacDonald pick up if they make the playoffs.

Reminds me of Noodles in 2004 when Turek and Kipper went down.

Nice to see Baerstchi getting some extra playing in the last half of the third period. He's gaining confidence with each and every game he's played. Time to move him up some lines.

WOOOHOOOO!!!!

Now that's Flames hockey!!!
Iginla. Being as clutch as can be, and wearing the superman cape for the team.

How I've missed this.

They manned up and won it in regulation too. That's backbone, right there! Take notes, western conference! That is how it is done! I pray that this game can launch our two pure goal scorers into scoring regularity. When those two lead the way, this is a far, far better team.

Feels good to beat those dirty, smug Yotes
and the guys in black and white, too.
