Leland Irving getting the start right now against the Chicago Wolves. Very interested to see how he responds after getting sent down.

House and Nemisz injured according to Ward, hence the call up and signing.

And Laing didn't even join the team on the trip.

Heat lost 4-3 in the SO. Goals from Wahl, Carson and Kolanos. Assists to Aliu and Piskula (2).
Side note, Carson has the highest shooting percentage for a defenseman in the AHL right now (actively). Only Eberle and J. Schultz have higher shooting percentages than Carson, but both play in the NHL.

Reason: Highest shooting % for a defenseman.

Didn't see the game but Irving was a game star so he must have done something good.

So, What's the chance Irving gets called back up now that he's over the flu? Seemed like he had a solid game tonight, personally I would like him back up for the Minnesota game this Saturday.

I was wondering if anyone (PMM?) could give a quick report on how Max Reinhart is doing in ABB? He's one prospect that I'm really excited about, and if I recall he had a slow start to the season. I see he's got 15p in 53 games now, how's he been doing recently? Thanks!

Here's a bit of an update I gave on Max about a week and a half ago. His point-getting pace has fallen off a bit since then. I haven't been able to watch the team for about two weeks because they've been on the road, unfortunately.

Reinhart's a defence-first centre, so he was put in defensive situations against other team's top players and (understandably) wasn't put in offensive situations. In other words, lots of defense + little offense + first year pro = a plus/minus number like he's got. That -17 really is not a big deal.
He's doing good for a first year pro. I talked to him just last week and his confidence is sky high with the more opportunities he's been given.
EDIT: The proof that his confidence is growing is in his stats line. In his first 35 games he had 5 points. In his last 13 games, he's collected 9 points.

Thanks PMM, must have missed that update. Hopefully he keeps getting more confident and can eventually move up in the depth chart. He seems like a good young player and hopefully he can develop into a solid 3rd line forward for the Flames.

I think he's a little more "raw" than management may have thought before this season began.
He has all the tools necessary to become (dare I say) a Ryan Kesler type, or maybe the 2012/13 version of Matt Stajan. That is, good in the faceoff circle, good defensive side of the game, works extremely hard along the boards, has good vision and can pot a few goals from time to time.

Wouldn't mind seeing them give Irving a bit of a run in Abbotsford. Guy needs to regain his confidence and still has some potential.

5-1 loss eh?
5 goals surrendered by Brust on 21 shots?
He's been playing like a$$ since Taylor got signed, it would seem.
Crazy that the Heat might miss the playoffs after the start they had.
1 point in their last 5 games.

I believe Max now has the worst plus/minus in the entire league. But I guess if I put my rose colored glasses on like some of us like to wear, he leads the league in the minus category....
