ALL ABOARD!
|
I took both kids (2 and 3) on Sunday last year. It was easy to get in and walk around. We avoided the signing areas though. They were happy enough to see everyone else dressed up.

Here is to hoping they're organized this year. Tickets are still on sale, it's been how many months now?
Did they say that they are going to keep the numbers limited?

Maybe people are staying away this year after last year's experience?

I have no interest in any of the guests this year, just want to check out the shopping. What would be the best day to go for that? Friday when everything hasn't been picked through yet?

What booth are you in? What are you selling mainly? Old comics, art or figures?

I have a whole island this year. Its the Dark Phoenix booth. Selling mostly comics and graphic novels but will have toys, dvds and original comic art and prints also.
I suckered 4 of my friends to wear tight wonder woman tshirts and hand out my flyer postcards again this year! hehe

I heard a rumour that Calgary`s ComicCon is now only third in size to San Diego and I think it was Las Vegas.

Does it sound less false if you say it in Sean Connery`s voice?

It's false, though probably not far off... I'd guess CCEE is at least top 10 in North America.
Definitely bigger than CCEE:
San Diego Comic Con (130,000)
New York Comic Con (116,000)
Fan Expo (Toronto) (91,000)

If you say the word "asps" to my 5 year old or 3.5 old daughters and they will say "very dangerous" (you go first)

Calgary is #2 in the world for photo ops. Which is great because it will attract more stars here if they want the moola.
I don't think we can ever get past the 65,000 mark with our small convention facilities though.

I really like the fact you can meet some stars or hear them speak, but it just seems so bush league for stars to charge for autos and pictures. I mean really, this is a chance to connect with fans, build a fan base, etc. You should never charge a fan for an autograph.
Or is this just the way these expos cover the appearance fees?

Bush league?
You mean standard for these evens and the way a lot of these "stars" still make coin.

Most of the money goes to the guests themselves, actually. It's how they cover their costs. Or rather, how they make their money.
