I can't think of very many scenarios where this makes sense.
But I'm not the GM of the Flames

Just incase you were wondering if this team could get any less gritty,
Feaster answered that question.

Can someone tell me how he plays like? I haven't really noticed him much in the Flames games I see, but my buddy is pretty pissed that he got waived instead of Comeau. Wouldn't mind the Oilers putting a claim with Horcoff out.

Odd move. Jones is no super star, but he was the best 4th line player this team has. As others have stated why him above Comeau, Jackman or Begin?
I am not sure there is a trade coming or picking up Arnott. They could have just sent Begin down on his 2 way contract if that was the case.

There has to be a move coming.
Tanguay, Stajan...... Horak? Cervenka? Begin?
Maybe a deal for Reasoner and Nino?.. wishful thinking.

He's a 4th liner, though one with some spirit and hustle, which is contrary to Jackman and Comeau.
Really, if this team were any good, no one would really care that much if this happened, but when there are other players that are probably worse than Jones -- given that Jones is probably the best 4th liner on the team -- and the lack of centre depth in basically every way you can think of, it's a bit of a headscratcher.
Not going to make the team lose any more games than it already is, but doesn't instill much confidence in the team's management .

I hope the Avs pick up Blair Jones. Think he'd make a good 4C on the roster and allow Sgarbossa to return to the AHL where he can get some offensive minutes. I think he'll get picked up...then again, I thought the same for Tyrell.

I don't get the love for Jones.
See ya.

hmm... interesting, I wonder if roster players on any teams playing today have been sat out.
I've given up trying to figure this team out, I am just going to enjoy the ride.

It's not so much the love for Jones, but more to do with the trying to understand this "meritocracy" management has been preaching. Especially since the center depth is so poor.
He's only a 4th line center, but he's decent at what he does.

Macdonald is getting the start tomorrow. Irving may in fact be done.

Two words best describe this move: Mind Boggling.
Jones is by far and away the best option as this team's 4th line centre, and I'm not fan of Jones.

They should have let Jones play with Iggy for a while so we could trade him for Spezza...

I think it has to do more with him being put on waivers before the rest of the 4th line. He has more energy than Jackman and Comeau.

I don't get it? What do the coaches see that non of us see? Sutter put him on the 2nd line many times. Hartely puts him in the top 9 any time there is an injury and he stifles the line. Now he is playing with Iggy?
Comeau is good on the PK, but that's about it.
