I really like Smith's patience with the puck. akin to his play from eraly last season. Paired with Hudler, the opposition would never have the puck.

They can, but when you make a pass that early, it doesn't really do anything to throw off the goalie or defensman and gives the trailing defensman a chance to catch up a bit.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but the ice has been pretty choppy. I really noticed it last Saturday.
