Have you used Druoin in NHL 13? No hockey sense, case closed.

Some big upcoming free agents might get traded this deadline - I wonder if Feaster would think of packaging a 1st and 'gamble' on one of them thinking he has a good chance at signing someone. For instance, I would assume a 1st would be part of a package in getting Getzlaf.

Anaheim is sitting pretty this year. Though I am sure they do not want to be going through another rebuild, this year would be a great one to do just that. Getzlaf, Perry and even Bobby Ryan would command a first round pick each in different packages.

Conversely, the Flames themselves if out of the playoff picture by the trade deadline could potentially find themselves with a couple of extra 1sts (Iginla, Kipper, possibly Bouw if he keeps playing well). With Hartley's more offensive system, it SHOULD translate into better offensive numbers for the Flames, and thus should increase the relative value for a number of them on trade deadline day. If the Flames stumble this year, it would seem a good year to do so. I think the Flames make the playoffs personally, but fun to play the 'what if' scenario. Best year to do a 'traditional rebuild' anyways. I still think the Oilers were 'unlucky' to have tanked when they did. Though their young players are good, and though it is still a bit early to judge them, it seems to me they rebuilt during a bit of a lull in the draft quality.

Columbus might just be a force 3-4 years from now.
My understanding is it was probably Turris.

51GP 35G 55A 90P 27PIM +53

At 90 points, he's been on the scoresheet for 38% of the goals scored by the Winterhawks!
Draft Mackinnion with the 2nd overall pick, then draft Petan with the 30th overall pick that they picked up from the team that trades for Iginla and wins the cup.

Perfect scenario.

If we don't tank, and land 9th, 10th in the West, I would absolutely love to pick up Gauthier. Him and Jankowski down the middle would be dangerous in a few years

If the Flames end up with the 1st overall pick, I'd want them to take MacKinnon. Seth Jones is obviously great, but MacKinnon is a nearly instant fix to the Flames 1-2 decade long problem at centre.

Flames will be bottom 3 in the west at the deadline. Time to put the rose coloured glasses away flames fans

Honestly I hope you're right and they bottom out (or what I'm secretly cheering for, a 43-0 finish). I don't think Feaster has the guts or the backing of ownership to pull the plug on a 10th-11th place team, it'll just end up with the team being in limbo again, with the core another year older, potentially even minus Iginla and a mid first round pick and no 2nd.

I agree that if they are 10th, there is no selling.

The only way the Flames are sellers at the deadline is if they are clearly out of it - as in 8 to 10 pts back and at least 11th or 12th place.

I'm praying for either 6th (preferred), or 15th - nothing in between.

I hope Barkov doesn't land in Flames, just for Barkovs sake.

The part that Calgary fans need to realize is Feester won't have to worry about pulling the plug on a 10 or 11 team because this team is a 13 to 15 team already.

I don't see any way Calgary is going to finish behind Phoenix, Columbus or Florida.

Those are some bad teams.
