Holy, the overreaction on this board is ridiculous!
The Flames played very well tonight. I can't believe people don't see that. Obviously they lost and IMO it was their own fault they lost. They had an awful final three minutes, but they played great this game.
For the first time in along while, I'm happy about how they played despite the loss.
It's totally irrelevant at this point how well they played. We are 5 games into the season and we have 1 point in a 48 game season. Just to make the playoffs we now have to play at a 105 point pace. Did we play that well?
I agree they played well for all but maybe 5 minutes. It really doesn't matter in the end
I swear only Flames diehards, Feaster and the ownership group actually think this team is any good.
I believe Feaster knows this team is bad but he's just happy to have a job at this point and is content with not upsetting the apple cart running this out until the owners finally cave in and tell him to proceed with the rebuild.

Well all I'm going to say on that is if Feast trades Iginla, he'd better demand the moon, and maybe mars and venus too. No more Phaneufing it down the sh*tter with these trades, g'damn it!
Expose how deep the contenders' needs are to 'win now'. If he's going to pull the trigger he'd better shop him publicly, turn it into a massive bidding war, and then we'll see how deep their pockets go.

Fact is this team actually has a very good team on paper. In theory, they should be far, far away from a last place team. And that's what seems appalling about those predictions.
Just none of our top players decided to come prepared into this 'unexpected' season, and have stunk it up early (with the odd exception of Jbo). However, that does not necessarily guarantee that that will be the case over the next 40+ games.
Basically, if Cammy and Iginla were putting up points at their normal pace and Kiprusoff was putting up his usual numbers, we wouldn't be in this boat at all.
the way the offense is playing right, only the bold part needs to happen
If we can get something like Seguin, a prospect, and a 1st I'd seriously consider it.
There was once a time where getting Seguin for Iggy was possible (Before Seguin made his NHL debut and Iginla was in his prime). However we'll never get him now.
Funny thing is the Flames did win games over the last three seasons. Enough to be into playoff contention in the last month of all three seasons. They simply couldn't win at the end of the season when the pressure rises which IMO is more on the players and leadership in the locker room than the coach. It's beginning to look like they won't be winning many games at all this season so if you like this crap hockey you are probably going to enjoy this season.
Well it will be hard to blame the coach now, did that with Keenan and Sutter. It is almost like fans may have to blame the greatest leadership group in the history of hockey and the actual players in the room soon. Sutter always had this team in playoff contention and when the pressure was at its highest, this team folded, similar to 2005-2009. Only difference was that they folded in the regular season as opposed to the first round. Hell even the Canucks could win a round or two.....

lulz. It's clear that Iginla won't be traded because the return required to appease the organization, city, etc. for a 34 year old pending UFA with 0 goals (but an angel within the community) will never ever be met by another team.
Flames only gave up 13 shots in the first 40 minutes but had 3 GA, none of which were chances that were all that dangerous. The first goal was probably the most dangerous and that was just a brutal turnover by a guy in and out of the press box. That's not an overall team issue.
Come one. Only 10% of our players were dreadful. If our goaltending wasn't absolutely pathetic and if one of our players didn't commit a dreadful turnover we could have won.
Lets ignore Giordano's horrible turnovers in game 1. Our the bad goal tending in every single game so far. And Bouwmeester's inability to clear on the PK. And every other bad thing that has happened this season.
Because if all of those bad things didn't happen we might not be in last place. Why are people so upset?
I'm so tired of reading this crap. No playoffs in three seasons and the last time they won a playoff round was two lock-outs ago. The only paper this team looks good on is toilet paper.
Hahahaha that sounds like an old man joke, but I burst out laughing when I read this haha. Bravo.

Glencross was embarrassingly bad.
Iginla is slow and weak.
Bou played great.
Stajan's line stole the night.
Kipper was weak.
Backlund looked great.
Tanguay played great.
Why do we make so many excuses for Iginla not scoring and being the most boring player on the ice but jump on Backlund. He had fire in his game today. Bench Iginla and give him time to pack his bags.
Iggy's been playing really well so far this season, but hasn't been able to score. He's been moving his feet, winning faceoffs, and getting chances, but they haven't been going in. He's been extremely unlucky to not have a few goals already.
Glencross on the other hand has been terrible. Floating around the ice, getting pushed off pucks, and a turnover machine. Sure he as 3 goals, but he hasn't been playing well. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more flack for his play.
Backlund was playing well too. Not sure why people would be jumping on him today. He had a few good chances he couldn't bury. His line mates didn't exactly give him an option to pass on most of his chances either.
Gio looked fine to my eyes tonight. Didn't really have a problem with his game.
Kipper was extremely weak. I was disappointed he wasn't pulled. Irving couldn't really have done much worse.

We don't have a backup that can take over and calm the team down. This is a huge problem that has plagued this club for a long time.
