Why do you care what I care about? Despite your condescending tone, I will try to answer your question..
Many people find this very interesting. Check out twitter and HF Boards to see how much this topic is discussed. The fate of an NHL franchise is big news.
At first I was most interested in Quebec getting a team back, but that seems inevitable now, likely by expansion.
Now, I am deep into the story and politics after following all the twists and turns. Maybe I want to write a book about it. Finally, I'd like to see the NHL in the best markets. Personally, I don't mind having a team in PHO for selfish reasons.

I'm not sure what was condescending about asking the question. I understand you're interested in the situation, as am I, I'm just not sure what posting a running total of attendance figures adds to that beyond being intended to rile up Bouw.
There's a definite sense of smugness from some people about the whole situation. Everybody knows Phoenix struggles to bring in big crowds every night, it's not news. A running total like that just strikes me as an attempt to kick sand for no reason. On top of that I still don't understand why anyone would particularly care about a team being in any city absent some sort of personal attachment to it.

That is not my intent. I feel for Bouw, and if I was in his shoes I would feel the same way. If the Coyotes stay, I will be happy for him. Sadly, there are just not enough people in the Valley like Bouw. Now is the time for the City to show support, and I am disappointed to see the attendance numbers this week. I thought they would have a bigger spike after last year. I'm not confident there will ever be good weeknight attendance. They have no marquee players. If they are not competitive, it could get much worse.

Apologies for misconstruing your intent.
I'm finally at the point where I don't know that I see attendance ever taking that big step it needs to take to make the market work. It's unfair in some ways as there has always been an issue there to make the team difficult to embrace, from ownership to lockouts to threatened moves, but at a certain point even if there are excuses the numbers speak for themselves. That said, if Jamison and his investors want to own a team there I don't see any reason for the league to oppose it, but I'm not sure he's still of that mindset.

This is a thread specifically related to the Phoenix Coyotes on a hockey related forum. Asking why do you care seems like a little bit of a useless and irrelevant question. We are on a hockey forum, we like to discuss hockey, we have opinions about hockey and everything related to it, and we enjoy reading about hockey related news.
Can we just drop that question now?

Thanks woob, glad you filled me in on that. As I said, I thought it was being used as a means to kick sand or take pleasure in watching a market struggle, hence the question. Turns out I misinterpreted.

No problem. It's not the first time you've asked throughout this thread, nor others, so I felt the need to address. You're welcome, always here to help.

Well I'll continue to ask why people take certain positions, that' sort of the nature of a discussion is it not? Why people care that a team exists or doesn't exist in Phoenix is part of the issue. Why people want a team in a different city is part of the issue. Why people care where the NHL spends it's money is part of the issue. So if it's cool with you I'll keep asking those questions. If you'd like I'll run them by you first just to make sure it's okay.

Honestly, if I felt you asking the question meant what you say above was true, I'd have no problem with it. However, and I'm sure others will agree, typically when you ask the question it comes across as condescending and derogatory. Yes, I'll grant you the fact that in this instance you've managed to explain yourself but in the past, that's how it comes across.
Great thing about a message board, people get to voice their opinions, thoughts, and suggestions. You do this in spades and so do I. Cool!

Well that's not how it's intended to come across, and I feel it's a completely legitimate question. There are a number of people here who seem to take joy in the Coyotes struggles, particularly a couple of years ago, and there are still a number who seem to take some sort of personal offense to the fact that they even exist. I think it's fair to ask why.
I can't for the life of me fathom how this impacts most people, which is why I don't understand the cheerleading. I imagine some people don't like being asked why because they don't actually have a reason, they've just decided that Phoenix doesn't deserve hockey, which opens up a whole new realm of questions. There's likely a pretty large amount of nationalism involved, which I find somewhat bizarre and kind of ugly. It also seems to coincide with a rising amount of smugness from Canadians in regards to the US, which I understand to a degree, but seems to cross the line more often than it should.

Then I'd suggest when you ask the question, follow up with some reasons why you're asking, and it might help the question have meaning and impact for people rather than just look like a jab in the form of a question.
Thank-you for further explaining yourself though, I do appreciate that.

How do you even find investors willing to lose millions of dollars? Can someone please hook me up with these numbers? "I know its 15 million dollars...a year,
but just trust me, my studies of the effect alcohol has on gorgeous co-eds and their decision making around the world will probably provide at least 4000 people entertainment!"
Really how could you not put some money into this?
Edit: I bet more people in Phoenix would like watching a millionaire pick up chicks at universities around the globe than the coyotes.

The funny thing is, I would bet that if Phoenix never had a team, they would be near the top of most people's list of cities that should get a shot.
On paper, they look like a feasible market demographically. I can't help but think that bad business and hockey decisions had such a negative impact that a downward spiral started with much of the potential fanbase. It's hard to draw new fans when every week, they are talking about the team leaving. It makes it hard to even keep old fans.
I kind of wish they would have left a few years ago because Phoenix would be that much closer to being on the radar again. I don't see them that different than Denver or the Bay Area, where if enough time goes by to forget the failed experiment, they can start with a clean slate. Geographically, it is also convenient to have a team in that area. I wouldn't be surprised if that is one of the reasons the NHL is holding on tight there.

I think phoenix would be fine if they didnt have to play out in glendale. Apparently they had good attendence when the team played in the us airways centre, which is where the suns play. Which is downtown. IMO playing in glendale killed this franchise.

I'm really just wanting this done with one way or the other. Keep 'em in Arizona or move them, just no more uncertainty.
